Does your daughter live close by, do you get to spend a lot of time with your granddaughter?
Favorite activity with your granddaughter?
To pilfer from Proust and James Lipton What is your favorite word? What is your least favorite word? What turns you on? What turns you off? What sound or noise do you love? What sound or noise do you hate? What is your favorite curse word? What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? What profession would you not like to do? If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?
My grandmother watched me everyday as a little girl. I have very fond memories of those times!
These were the rest of the Proust/Lipton 10 ?s if you feel so inclined - clearly I don't feel like doing work today What turns you on? What turns you off? What sound or noise do you love? If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?
(This question comes from the fact that I've lived here for most of my life and while I like a lot of things about it, I'd move away in a heartbeat given the opportunity.)
Chicago, Rod Stewart & Police, Janice Joplin: we had the best music. I posted once how I met my exH: I was sitting my Dante's shoulders, bee-bopping to Vince Vance and he was dancing on a table, drinking jungle juice, and he tapped me on the shoulder. I joined him and later we rode in a frat parade. For straight A me, it was quite the adventure. We got married a year later.
Oh jungle juice. You never know what is going to happen if you drink that.

It is a red neck paradise? I could not live anywhere in La but NOLA & I love it here. I lived in VA for a few years (loved it) when I first got married and then in small city in La, which I hated. New Orleans can be many things, but I love that it is unique. What, if anything, do you like? Are you in SW?
I live between Baton Rouge and Hammond. Talk about red neck paradise...
I like the food. I like the mild winters. I like the water..all the lakes and rivers, etc, and going out with my in-laws on their shrimp boat.
What do adult daughters do that drives mothers crazy?
She takes me for granted. A week ago, she went out for coffee after work without asking me to keep Lucie longer. She said I wasn't doing anything anyway. I just want the respect of being asked. I think she also fails to understand that I can't afford to go out to eat all the time, etc.; she is used to me paying for extras.
I think relationships go in cycles and we are just getting to the upswing again. She had IVF, PPD anxiety, his affair, trying to keep it together, selling her house she loved, being a single mom all in a very short time period. Miss two masters, list maker, type A, but very creative thinker suddenly had no control. It's taken longer than expected, but I don't think grief operates on the same timetable for everyone. We will be ok again. She is a fighter.
You weren't doing anything anyway? My dad takes care of my kids and his response would have been "doing nothing by myself is something".
I love this post! Operagirl, you give such good advice - straightforward without being harsh. I aspire to attain that balance. Glad to get to "know" you a bit better!
I don't live in the area anymore :-( but when I visit I'd love to!
From what I've noticed most people know of our daiquiri's but not the drive thrus. And the "WTF" aspect of them didn't occur to me until after I moved away and someone pointed it out to me lol
If you drink, what's your favorite kind of daiquiri?
Hi Callie, I drink wine mostly. Franciscan Pinot Noir usually. I love blends, but can't afford their Magnificate. I also enjoy Vouvray. Margaritas outweigh daiquiris. Does everyone know that there re drive through daiquiri stores here? I prefer regular lime flavor. I also love dirty vodka martinis.

This has been such a fun post! Operagirl, I wish I lived in Nola for the GTG!
You made me think that I've probably taken my mom for granted more times than I should...but no kids so I have yet to dump a kid on her because she "has nothing else to do."
Not sure if I can phrase this correctly... Do you ever read our posts and think we're young and naive? What topics do you see on this board that remind you that you're older and wiser?
Kore, could you and Cajunmom talk about a GTG with everyone? If you all want to come to NOLA, you can meet at my house and then we can go out, or I can easily come to the BR area.
Absolutely!! We were supposed to have one last year, but I flaked on the planning & then chickened out.
Maybe we could plan it for NO after carnival season is over?
