It's dreary, unseasonably warm, and I'm overtired. I need happy thoughts. To answer my own question - MH comes home tonight from a business trip and our dog had a grand time this morning tossing her blankets and beds around our room this morning while I was getting ready for work. We adopted her almost 6 months ago and it's been the coolest thing to watch her come out of her shy timid shell and really start to act like a dog. If you ask her, retirement is grand!
When I sat a plate of scrambled eggs, grapes, and a frozen waffle in front of my 2 yo this morning, he said "Is this my breakfast?" I said yes, and he threw his arms in the air and yelled "Hooray!" I have no idea why he was so excited over the same lame breakfast he eats all the time, but I love that he was.
I am going to a networking event tonight at a truly godawful bar, but a really fun group of people from work are going, so I think it will actually be really fun.

Porcini mushroom bisque with brie. It was incredible. This evening dh and I are taking Lex swimming. He loves swimming and dh has never seen him in the pool. I'm all excited.

The bisque sounds divine, did you make it or have it at a restaurant - regardless, please share!
Group chat with my sister and friend makes me laugh all day long... this morning they were arguing, in the group chat, and I was cracking up. Thank goodness I'm alone in the office.

I got it from a local gelato place next to my office. It was heavy, creamy, and had a little garlic, and maybe a touch of onion. Perfect for a blustery, exhausted day. Paired it with a panini with fontina, problem, mozzarella, tomato, basil and pesto.

I am a 2nd grade teacher. While we were writing stories today, one of my students wrote "They always wanted to have another daughter, but never had time to get one."
C has become a real cuddlebug in the mornings when we try to get him ready for daycare. This morning I asked him to put his arms up so I could change his shirt, he went 'arrgh, big hug mommy' and gave me the biggest bear hug and didn't really let go for a minute or two. Toddlers are tough, but I am soooo going to miss this trait someday.

My friend called me at 7:15 this morning to find out the results of some test we had done on DD yesterday. It was sweet of her to think of us, 2 seconds after she put her kids on the bus.

Last night, DH tossed out a bunch of treats for the cats. Apparently, a couple landed on the back of our 22-lber and he didn't notice. Later, I was standing in the hallway, at DH's office door, chatting with DH. Another cat came strolling down the hall toward me, the big boy jumped out of my office doorway to pounce him--discovered treats flying off his back and stopped mid-pounce to eat them. Big boy now seems to be convinced that he is shedding treats and keeps trying to shake off more.

The smell of the hyacinths I bought yesterday. It smells like spring in my house even if it's still winter.
That the kids slept until their normal time today for the first time in a week and a half. If the dog didn't bark at the cleaning lady (hooray for the cleaning lady coming too) who knows how long they would have slept.
I'm super crabby today because I'm pissed at H, but my step-son made me smile today.
I brought him to school and we were a few minutes early. He asked if he could sit in the front seat until the school doors opened, so I said he could. He then told me that the reason he wanted to sit in the front was because that way he could give me a kiss and a hug more easily before getting out of the car. (heart)
