No gifts here, but we're at a point in our relationship where we'd rather do things WITH each other than buy things FOR each other. We try to do a monthly "date night" on the day of our anniversary, and since that falls around Valentine's day, we'll just enjoy our normal dinner out.
We are going to be on vacation this Valentine's Day, visting H's family in Florida. We didn't get to have Christmas with them, so my cheesy idea was to go all out for Valentine's Day. Normally, we just get each other cards. But I'm thinking of putting out some candy, buying H's parents little gifts and taking them out to dinner. We haven't had holidays with them in years, so I thought it would be cute. But will they think I'm nuts?
We're spending the evening at the hospital in a "How to Care for a Newborn" class. Totally romantic, lol!
We don't usually do gifts but I'm going to give him a year of dates basket this year. It's cheesy but with the baby coming, I like the idea us time every month.

We've decided to do take-out at my place and I'll make molten lava cakes for dessert. We've both watching money, but I don't know that we'd do more if we weren't. I like random flowers better than V-Day flowers, and GF is pretty good at getting them for me from time to time.

We don't really do gifts on Valentine's Day. Since you can't think of anything you want or need, why not just have dinner and stay in a hotel for the night? Or dinner + a movie, or some sort of activity together that you both enjoy?
we dont do Valentines day. It didnt even occur to us that it was coming up until we saw an ad last night for it haha. H also knows better than to waste money on flowers...though I do love calla lilies for our anniversary
DH will usually sneak into my stash of scrapbook supplies and make me a card which is awesome.
We're tying to save money, so something little--I have an Amazon list and he often gets me candy or grocery store flowers. I would be fine with any of that.
I wil be giving him an Amazon card--I got points at work to redeem for a $50 gift card and he likes shopping himself.
I don't think I knew that people asked for gifts for Valentine's Day. We don't do gifts. We just go out to dinner.
Do you go out on Feb. 14th? It's always been such a cluster when we did that that we gave up. We usually make fondue at home now.
This year we actually are, but to an MM Italian restaurant in our neighborhood that will be serving its normal menu rather than pulling the prix fixe crap that a lot of other restaurants do. We never do anything fancy or even particularly romantic, and we often do it on a day other than Feb. 14.
We just get each other something we've been wanting anyway. H is getting me the new phone I want, and I'm getting him a piece of art he's been wanting for his office. It might be silly, but we try to match purchases like that to gift giving holidays or birthdays - we'd spend the money anyway, and then we're not wasting money to get something the other person doesn't really want.
I do get flowers at my office every year, and I usually bring home a treat for him.

Yep, we'll be at our first "Childbirth Prep" class. I just hope they don't show the bad movies at the first class, you know, so romantic and all.
Otherwise we don't do more than a card and some candy. It's never been a gift giving holiday for us.

We went out the first year we were dating, to an Italian restaurant where MH's father was the chef. I think we had reservations, and we still waited a long time for a table and then ate dinner (from a prix-fixe menu) really late.
Since then, I don't think we've ever gone out on Valentine's Day itself. If we have, it was for something like pizza or burgers where the place wouldn't be super-crowded. Or we save it for the days surrounding Valentine's Day. It's on a Thursday this year which means that MH will be working late anyway, so I'll probably just cook something at home to have ready when he comes in, along with a fancy-ish dessert.
Last year I made a stuffed chicken breast recipe that turned out really dry. But dessert was chocolate pots de creme, which was really yummy. Maybe I'll make those again this year.

I will probably forget that it's Valentine's Day until about 2pm, then I'll make an elaborate dessert. DH will come home with flowers and I'll try not to barf when I see the bank statement. He will also make me a card using a piece of office paper and a ball point pen.
I asked for McDonald's french fries. They show the dang commercial every night when we are eating our sensible and healthy dinner. I really want some fries.

If we have a gift in mind for each other, we'll exchange, if not ...we don't. One year, we both bought each other a more expensive bottle of wine (30$).
