We're having our bathroom remodeled, and today was the first demo day. I just came home, and there is a used syringe on the bathroom windowsill! The guy got really good reviews on Angieslist and my husband really liked him when he came out to do the bid (I wasn't home). We had 6 different people come out to give an estimate and chose him based on those two things - price was very close for several of the bids. I think he contracts out the plumbing, but I don't think the plumber was there today because none of the pipes were moved. What do we do?! I called my H and he is freaking out. As far as I can tell, none of our stuff is missing.
UPDATE: I just talked to the owner, he found it in the vanity and is going to dispose of it tomorrow. Lesson learned and crazy pregnant lady freak out over.

I thought she was concerned about how to dispose of it properly, lol. I would put it in a glass or plastic jar (peanut butter, bell jar, etc) and trash it.
I came in here thinking you were wondering what to do with a diabetic syringe he left on the window. Why are you thinking drugs? I would call or text him and ask if he can properly dispose of it tomorrow.
I really hope he's just diabetic and not a drug user. If he was diabetic, I would think he would be very aware of how to properly dispose of his needles.
We had a bad experience a few years ago with construction workers stealing a bunch of stuff from us, including my wedding ring, and our neighbors (condo complex) so even letting someone in the house while we weren't home was a big leap of faith, and which is why I immediately checked to see if there was anything missing. I would have checked even if he hadn't left the syringe.
Also, thanks for talking me off the ledge. You're all right that there's a good chance he has a reasonable explanation. We are definitely going to call him tonight.
We found an empty, used syringe on top of the kitchen cabinets after we moved it. I picked it up with a plastic bag, sealed the bag, and dropped it in a milk jug I was throwing away.
I take some meds using a syringe. I do find it odd he didn't dispose of it but shit happens.
Most drug addicts reuse thier needles and hide them so I think you are overreacting by jumping to the conclusion that he is a junkie that is going to rob you of your belongings.

I had allergy shots for about 7 years. I used to play with the needles all the time when I was a kid because we had a whole drawer full of them. my first thought would be diabetes, depending on the needle. He could have also found it when stripping the bathroom. I have hired a contractor who came out and told me after two weeks of working at my house daily, that he was recently out of prison for distribution of meth. He didn't steal anything. I think people would be surprised if they really knew who was working for them all the time.
