I received notice this morning that about half of our stuffs for this move have made it in-country. The rest is expected early next week. The moving company estimates about 10 days to go thru customs, and then we can arrange delivery!
We'll have our stuff back! Our own bed, and proper kitchen equipment and the sewing machines and my yarn stash, and, and... (yes, you can see where my priorities lie...)
Yep, excited. Very, very excited.
It was all packed up in mid-December. Having it here will make life just a bit easier, and much more home-like...
I'm curious to see how they deliver it. We're in a 12th floor apartment, and they have these cool ladder trucks for moving stuff. The put the base below your building, and then extend up the ladder to your apartment window. Once it's set up, they have a motorized platform that they can put stuff on to get it up to your apartment window.
I've seen them used elsewhere, but for our army-loaned furniture they took the boring route and used the elevator.
The fun part will be when we realize we had something put into storage that we really could use right now! Or when we realize we had some incredibly useless item brought along and we won't touch it after it's been put away while unpacking...
Yea! If its anything like our movers, they will be super fast! We had three shipments in one day (army loaner furniture, UAB, and HHG) and they each took an hour. I was so amazed! We were without our stuff for two months and it felt so great to have familiar stuff!

UAB and HHG on the same day? Dang...
We got the loaner furniture and the UAB on the same day, and yep, they each took less than an hour. Super fast! Heck, the UAB guys even unpacked everything and took all the boxes and paper away, and it was still super fast!
I think HHGs will take longer, because we actually have a lot of stuff. Between home office gear, kitchen stuff, extra clothes, linens, and hobby stuff we're not at our max weight, but close enough we'll want to keep that in mind for our return home. We probably don't want to go crazy buying things to take home...
