Cute place to walk around. I took a sailing class there. I remember the Salty Dog Cafe as being cute. We ate at a really nice restaurant, but I'm sorry I don't remember the name of it.
I went a few years ago, and we took a boat ride around the bay. I just tried googling, and I think the company was Schooner Woodwind. It was really nice.
There are some great restaurants and lots of bars. I like Miss Shirley's for brunch. Lewnes is a good steak house. Pussers has awesome drinks and a deck. There is a boat ride that leaves every hour or so in season and gives a little tour of the landmarks.
Do you know which hotel? It is very walkable and there is a service that will drive you around from bar to bar or back to your hotel in a little golf cart type thing, no charge, you just tip them.
The golf cart things are called ecruisers. For some reason I cant find the number, but your hotel will probably have it and they may have one parked outside anyway.
Annapolis is a cute little town. (I guess not that little lol). It's a lot of fun especially in good weather. I've been when its 100 degrees and that's pretty miserable lol. If you stay downtown it's really walkable.
Groupon and living social always have deals for stuff there - especially the tours! I think it'd be great for a girls weekend.
Oh, and I don't know where they have the best crabcakes, but don't go to Phillips. Cantlers is awesome for steamed crabs (and probably crab cakes too) if you want to try that. It is a bit out of the way though, and that time of year there may be a couple of hour wait.
Phillips just opened a crab house down by the city dock, but honestly, I wouldn't go there for crab cakes. Phillips makes what we call a tourist cake. Too much filling, not enough crab. But if you want crabs, its probably fine.
Sunday brunch at Rams Head Tavern - bloody mary bar and eggs Chesapeake (eggs Benedict with a crab cake instead of ham)
If you like balsamic vinegard, then you have to go to Seasons: www.seasonstaproom.com/. My BFF and I spent 30 minutes just drinking, err, sampling the vinegars. yes, they are drinkable!
The state house is really cool, especially the dome. It has no nails!
I love Annapolis!. I've been there twice- once on a day trip while visiting a friend in Baltimore and once on a mini-vacation with DH and DD. It's really cute. I enjoyed just walking around the town and touring the naval academy. We ate at some good restaurants, but if course I don't remember any names. We also drove to Baltimore to see the acquarium which was fun.
I think both Phillips and the restaurant below it both closed.
Phillips closed their second floor location awhile ago. A couple of places have come and gone in that area, although Phillips has owned the buildings there the whole time. Last spring/summer, Phillips reopened in part of the space as a "Phillips Crab Deck."
I went a few years ago, and we took a boat ride around the bay. I just tried googling, and I think the company was Schooner Woodwind. It was really nice.
Captain Jen of Schooner Woodwind is an acquaintance and she's awesome! I high recommend them.
Thanks for all the recs! Bookmarking this for later!
3 of the girls in our group of 7 live in D.C. so they are spearheading the planning of it. Not sure what lodging they are thinking, maybe renting a private house.
During the year DH and I lived out in D.C. we never made it to Annapolis so I'm excited. We did visit the aquarium in Baltimore but I was pissed at the lack of manatees
IT'S NOT A DECENT AQUARIUM WITHOUT SEA COWS!
going to try to extend my trip by a day or so and I want to do a D.C. gtg while I'm there!
