I had my HSG procedure today- it wasn't awful - but it wasn't comfortable either!
My doc thinks I might have had a small blockage on one side since he had to push a little more contrast than normal, but that it 'blew out' since it did eventually come through. Hopefully this is good news for this cycle!
Thanks to everyone who gave their experiences with the test in my previous post about it. The clamping on my cervix didn't hurt nearly as much as the die being injected - that felt like the worst stomach cramps I've ever had (as in, worse than when I had Norovirus). I'm sure it would have been worse if I hadn't had the Advil before hand. I did, however, forget to bring my own pad - so I had to use the 'maxi thin' that the hospital provided ... 'thin' is oh so not what it was!
Thanks for sharing. I heard that the cycle after this procedure often results in a bfp. Time to get busy!!! GL!
LOL - thanks I hope this is the one too.
My cousin & my other cousins' wife are pregnant now - due in Aug & Sept - so if I were to get pg this cycle there would be lots of new babies this year!
Glad it sounds like good news! I hope you have luck this cycle
I am wondering though, is your Dr going to give you a more definitive answer? All he could tell you is that you may have had some blockage on on side and that maybe it blew out? I'm getting an HSG tomorrow, I was hoping for 575 dollars I'd get a little more info than some maybes. Lol! I hope my expectations arent way off
That was pretty much all he could say.
The contrast solution didn't go through easily at first on the one side, but then with a little more pressure (ie more contrast) and a quick shift of my body to the left it went through. He's not *sure* that there was a blockage - but from his experience he thought it was.
The problem is that it's just an xray - there's not much they can tell other than if there is or isn't a blockage. If there IS a blockage, I'm sure they will go into further tests to determine what it is and the best way to resolve it.
I had mine today too & holy smokes the balloon catheter insertion hurt so badly I jumped. Wonder if that has anything to do with the skill of the doctor doing it?

Not sure - my Doc mentioned that some women just have more sensitive cervixes than others. The balloon catheter didn't hurt much - like a pap smear pinch - but the contrast HURT like crazy bad cramps. Honestly, it hurt more than the few contractions I did have when being induced.

I really wish I would have remembered to take some ibuprofin before the appointment. I know it would have still hurt based upon how intense the pain was, but it might have taken the edge off. The ob/gyn did mention to the radiologist that I have a "small cavity" when he was having her inject more dye while having me changes positions in an attempt to get better pix of the left side.
I said to my husband when I got home 'I hope I get a baby out of this!'
