My doxie was my husband's before we were married. He has had her since she was 6 weeks old and she is 13 now. We have been together 8 years. She has assigned us each roles and is not typically daschund in that she doesn't have a "person". I am the morning food person and she sleep snuggler. He is the ball thrower and evening food person.
She has done ah-mazing with Caramini.
She still barks WAAAAY too much and she chewed one thing of Caramini's as a spite chew. She is not great on walks with the stroller, but does OK if the baby is in a carrier. We usually only go if both my H and I can go with the dog and Caramini.
A behaviorist told us to make sure that my husband carried the baby into the house and handled all baby-related-acting-out discipline. I think that helped, too.
She was still appalled at the indignity of all things baby at the beginning, but they definitely get a long now.
Caramini will say, "Pet the puppy gentle..." when she pets Caradoxie.
A friend recommended the book "The Other Dog" when I was pregnant. That is about how it went.
