Do you clean your refrigerator? Do you shut it off and empty it all out? Do you clean it shelf by shelf?
I have to do ours today because I spilled a container of sticky stuff and now everything is stuck to the glass. I cannot get to the plug to unplug it so it's just going to stay on and beep at me until I'm good and ready to close it.
Do your shelves come out? If they do, remove everything from the shelf, soak the shelf in warm water+dish soap, scrub it off, dry it and put it back in.
skippingstones My shelves do come out, but most of the spill is on the glass on the main shelf. It pretty much fell off the top shelf and hit every shelf on the way down then pooled on the glass above the crisper drawers. Grr.
About once a month and it's only out of necessity at that point. I just throw things away, then clean it shelf by shelf, pulling them out and cleaning them in the sink. I hate doing it but only takes about 20-40 minutes and makes such a big difference.

I clean it when it starts looking dirty or when I spill something. I don't shut it off. Sometimes I just clean the bottom drawers since they get dirty faster. Other times I clean each shelf at a time from top to bottom.
Lol yep! If you leave it open for like 5 minutes, it will start beeping at you to warn you that you're stealing all its cold air. The freezer does the same.
Clean that sucker thoroughly and before putting the shelves back in, I cover them with a sheet of Glad Press 'n Seal. When it's time to clean, I can wipe off anything that's spilled and then peel off the sheet of Glad press 'n seal. I do this about once every other week, or more if needed.
Walla.
ETA: I don't turn off my fridge, I just remove the shelves/bins and clean them on at a time. If they don't come out, just leave your door open while cleaning.

You my dear, are my hero for this. I didn't even think about lining the shelves! I'm constantly spilling something or getting junk everywhere.

I do a couple of shelves at a time every two weeks or so. I hate doing it and it doesn't seem like such a big job when I break it up like that. I don't unplug, just purge and then remove the shelves and wash them.
