My guess for the one that ends with -y and spells it -ee, must be Amy (Aimee?). The -ie and -y names could be a ton of different things like Stephanie, Melanie or Bethany...what else could they be...?

My work email address is formatted "firstname.lastname@emailaddress.whatever". I get blamed all the time for not responding to emails when the sender has clearly misspelled my first name. Like, I get blamed because some idiot can't spell my name right and doesn't read/understand/care that the bounce back message they get means I haven't seen the email. How is that my fault?!?!?
Also, I have several threaded email conversations where I sign my email (in addition to the pre-programed email signature with my name) with the correct spelling of my name and the respondent misspells it when replying to me. So, they see my name in three places (the "from" line in the email, my "official" work email signature, and my own signature) and they still don't get it.
I know I get too worked up about this shit but my name isn't even youneek or cre8ive.
I get called Sarah on a fairly regular basis at work. There is a Sarah that works across the hall from me so I kind of get the confusion, but still. Also, one coworker that works in my classroom with me called me Mary a few times. That one I laughed at because my FIL has called me Mary before (his SIL's names is Mary) and that's what H and I want to name our future child if we have a girl.

I have a sister with a very common name, but she spells it differently than most. So every time I have to write or Spell that name I spell it the way my sister spells her's. I think that it is common to default one way or another. I always have to spell my name for people. They always start it with a C and it should be a K. Some times I do not care and never say anything.
you know, i'm the queen of random bursts of anger and even i think this is intense. "an idiot who can't read"? how about "no one cares as much about your name as you do."

i get this too, and my name couldn't be easier to spell. i'm always sweet as pie "oh my, that's a shame. i see that there's a typo in my email address below so unfortunately i didn't receive it. i'll handle that right now."
I work in Quebec and my biggest pet peeve is that people will translate my name to French. Names do not translate. If your name is Stephane I don't call you Steven in English.
I always have people misspell my name, first and last. It really doesn't bother me.
My H's name is Andrey and he is always being called Audrey. He hates it. He used to get mad when people would misspell or mispronounce his last name, but I was like " dude, it's 11 letters and it's not that easy to read. Chill". He doesn't get worked up about it anymore.
I think it's strange that you do the I as in ice cream, L as in Larry, etc., for your entire name.
I thought that was only reserved for letters that sound similar, like an S or F, M & N, B & D, etc.
Unfortunately, I do have to do that for most of my last name because no one ever spells it or says it right.
We do this for our last name. We live in an area that is mostly Hispanic and we have a Hispanic last name, but people STILL put a B instead of a V. We say "V as in Vegetable" and move on.
"And I even say this when I am asked to spell my name. I will say, 'I as in ice cream, L as in Larry, A as in apple, N as in Nancy, A as in apple. That is five letters.'"
You really say this when someone asks how to spell your name? If you said that to me, I would add an extra L.
is this bitchy? I do that with my last name quite often. Doesn't help though it's still pronounced or spelled wrong 99% of the time.
Oh, I did it with my maiden name, too., but I'm pretty at this entire rant.
I have an eastern european name (that also exists in spanish speaking countries and the African American community) and people struggle with it all the time. I've gotten used to it. *shrug*
I have a weirdly spelled FN and I had a crazy long Polish last name as a maiden name, I no longer give a shit how people spell any of my names. I think it's rude to not bother to check the spelling on an email or in an Outlook address book, but I'm no longer incensed by it.

Also, my mom was trying to make a hair appointment over the phone, and the receptionist was having such a hard time spelling her name.
So my mom did the whole, "A as in Alpha..." thing and the girl goes, "OMG! Are you a doctor or a flight attendant?" My mom says, "No...are you thinking of another customer?" The girl then says, "Oh. No. I thought only doctors and people like that spoke like that."

This is something that just doesn't bother me. I've had people ask me if I prefer my name pronounced 'Les-lie' or 'Lez-lie' and it never occurred to me that I needed to pick one pronunciation over the other

you are the opposite of my former coworker. she was a meagan. WOE BETIDE YE who said it "meg-en" instead of "may-gen." i mean, i get it, you want your name pronounced correctly, but i when i mentioned that i grew up with a meagan pronounced meg-en, she flipped her shit about how it's PEOPLE LIKE THAT who are RUINING HER NAME.
