I write under my maiden name. Partly so that my work stays under one name so if, say, someone googles me, they don't only find my post-marriage work. Partly b/c it's super simple, short and easy to spell (4 letters). DH's last name isn't much longer or hard to pronounce, but I'm amazed at how often people mess it up.
Sometimes that confuses people if I send them something from my personal email address (my work one generates a lot of bounce-backs for some reason).
My name is Melissa. Common and simple enough... except people always misspell is Malissa/Melisa/Mellissa etc etc etc. Wtf people? My parents were smart enough to name me with the CORRECT Greek spelling.
A few months ago the high as fuck barista at Starbucks spelled it Malisuh....are you fucking kidding me? How do you get an H in there?!
I am with you on this- well except the Starbucks story.
I don't have a coffee name, but my friend Jennifer uses something not as common for her coffee name since there inevitably seem to be half a dozen Jennifers/Jenns waiting for coffee at the same time.
I just use my real name. Julie. Someone spelt it as "July" once and I was like WTF?! I don't like being called Julia. It's not my name, dammit! Some people call me Jul (say- jool) and obviously Jules. I love my name.
