We were in a shoe store and I was trying shoes on Payne. Genevieve, (who was unbuckled because I'd just had her feet measured. I suck) climbed onto the back of the stroller and tipped it over.
There was blood everywhere. I managed to stop the bleeding in her mouth with a random pair of cotton boxer briefs from my diaper bag while sitting in the middle of the mall as she screamed. Once I stopped the bleeding I realized her inner lip was pretty badly cut, so we left and drove to the pedi. Waited 30 mins in the office as she screamed. The pedi checked it out as she screamed. There is a HUGE gaping gash on the inside of her lower lip, but the pedi said sutures wouldnt do much good in that spot. Instead I'm supposed to feed her soft, gentle foods for a week and rinse out her mouth constantly.
Yay.
At least she didn't bite through her lip. I initially thought she had, because there's a cut on the outside as well. They don't meet in the middle though. Whew. She cried for about 90 minutes straight though. Poor thing.
Oh man, that sucks. DS had to get a stitch last year after falling over a kid and biting through his bottom lip. The stitch was terribly irritating so I hope that G's cut will quickly and easily heal. Did they give any tips on helping it heal quickly?
Hope you have a large box of popsicles in the freezer!
Kate got a similar injury tripping on hardwood stairs last summer. I think her bottom teeth went through her lower lip, and her top teeth went out and over her bottom lip and cut the outside. Kate had a bonus though: she knocked one of her front teeth back almost horizontally. Did I mention it was my birthday?
The good news is that it did heal on its own fairly quickly, even the tooth. She had a swollen lip the next day, and for two or three days she ate smoothies for every meal because she could use a straw since it stung to have any food touch it.
Aww, poor thing. A few months ago Sofia took a dive off of the bed and smashed her chin, which made her bite down hard on her tongue. Blood everywhere and a giant gash in her tongue. The good news is she did heal up quickly, I hope G's injury does too.
Poor baby and poor mama! My nerves would be frazzled. I hope she feels better soon! My son did this and I made him lots of smoothie's. He loved it! No fruit ones though for the first few days until it closes.
