So we've been TTC since November 2011. We took a few months off because I needed my tonsils out. My cycles have been all over the place ranging 26-35 days. I'm hypothyroid w/ TSH 3.0. I've tried to get my PCP to up my synthroid, but he won't because "it's within range." I don't temp because I work nights and school during the days, so it's never consistant sleep.
I just made an appt w/ my OBGYN to discuss what's going on. What should I expect? I'm nervous and upset. I don't really have anyone to talk to IRL so I'm here.
My sister has hypothyroidism and I do know that she had to make sure her levels were normal before TTC. Can you make an appointment with an endocrinologist? Hopefully your OB can help or refer you to someone who can.
Hey there. I can totally relate. I was just dx with hypothyroidism too. My drs said that it is really important to regulate around TSH level of 1 if you are pg but are okay with levels under 4-5 if you are not pg and as long as it doesn't affect your cycle too much. I think it's a good sign if you are at least having a period every 26-35 days. You should ask your obgyn what she thinks about tsh of 3 and possibly get referred to an endocrinologist or internist. Have you tried EOD sex or timed it based on other signs like CM?
Yeah, she's aware of my last levels. She preferred to have my PCP monitor my TSH until I become pregnant. I've tried timing around CM, timing around OPK, timing around suggestions of FF, EOD sex.....all of it. I was hoping explaining all that jazz to my PCP, who is awesome, he'd increase my synthroid and let me re-test in a few weeks.
I can't get in to see the OBGYN until the 19th, so I figure this cycle is a bust too. I guess I'm more frustrated because nothing is going "according to plan." My husband just doesn't understand why it's bothering me so much and why it doesn't "just happen." Ugh. Hopefully we'll get some answers this month though...

If you use Fertility Friend, in the FAQ there is a question about shift work, that may help you with how to temp with your schedule. Many women can still see a temp shift even if they do not consistently temp at the same time, as long as they temp after 3 hours of sleep. ETA: if temping is something you are interested in doing.
Just noting start days of cycles and checking CM. I use a tracking app that supposedly shows fertile days, but I don't trust it.
Your ap is showing fertile days based on the assumption that most cycles are 28 days, and most women O on day 14 and then have a 14 day LP. So, it's not going to be totally (or even predictably) accurate for you. Here's what I recommend.
Keep tracking the start of your cycles, and figure out how long they are. You're having a huge swing, so I am sure that can be annoying as shit.
Start using OPKs. I'd start using them on CD 6, and do it once per day until you get a +. Adjust after a few cycles until you know about when you're ovulating.
Keep tracking your CM - this is a generally good indicator of what's going on with your body.
Like a PP says, FF has some answers on temping if you're doing shift work which might be helpful to you. What you're doing now might get you pregnant - assuming you are ovulating and having a bunch of sex throughout your cycle your odds are as good as anybody's. But, since you've been trying for a while now it might be time to start being a little more proactive.

Good luck!
This!
Lola is very wise. I tried a different app that did the same thing as yours. It always said that O was 14 days before my next AF. Which is only helpful if your LP is 14 days and if your AF comes the exact same cycle day welch cycle.
Right, which is why I said I don't trust the app. I don't really pay attention to it and mainly use it to document start days and CM. I also use it to track days we have sex and whatnot. I appreciate the suggestions, but as I said previously, I've been doing those. The only thing I haven't done is temping.
Some days I don't really "sleep" as much as nap 1.5-2hrs throughout the day. I work full-time and go to school during the day. I'm pretty sure I only sleep a full night 1-2 nights/week.
Thank you for all the support. I'm continuing to track everything until I meet w/ my OBGYN.
