My parents would pay, but then I'd be expected to work it off. At the time, however, I truly believed my Dad, who was an administrator at a juvenile detention center, when he threatened to "take me to work with him" if I ever broke the law.

My parents wouldn't have bailed me out. My dad did bail one of his employees out once though. I am sure we never would have been shown that mercy, lol.

My brother had the audacity to ask my parents for bail money for my SIL, and of course they said no. And then my SIL refused to let my parents see their grandchild (despite the fact that my parents were paying their rent, food, health insurance and my brother's schooling at the time).
I want to know why they all have horrible hair (see chelsea and Leah)...it's alarming.

I was someone who got arrested that got to make that "lovely" phone call to my parents. I told them not to pay bail. I sat in jail for 3 days because I was more afraid of them than I was of jail.
It would depend on why I was there. In reality, it would most likely have been not leaving some protest march, so yes.
It was never discussed because I wasn't the kind of kid where the bad things discussed were the results of a middling grade. And the consequences discussed were more like a life of unrealized potential and resulting sadness. Guilt works better than threats. lol.
