I had been using super cheap OPKs (the paper strip you dip), but my pg friend gave me her Clear Blue OPKs the other day so I used both today (at the same time...and I have no idea why I used both). The cheapo one shows a positive OPK, but the Clear Blue had no smiley. Is the more expensive one typically more accurate? I'm tired and I want to know if I can go to sleep or if I need to get busy.
THIS is why I hate OPKs! lol. They're so fucking confusing to read!
I trust my CBE way more than my cheapies, but only because I can tell what the H it says. I think if I were you (and I know this sucks, but since you didn't pay for the digital ones maybe it is ok) I think I'd keep testing for a few days, with both and see what your cheapie looks like on the day you get your smiley face. Also, if you're temping (you are, yes?) I'd track which one lines up with your temp best.
On the cheapie tests, was the test line as dark or darker than the control line? It's not like a pregnancy test where ANY line is a positive -- it has to be as dark or darker than the control line in order to be a positive, which can make them really difficult to read sometimes. I would try again in about 12 hours and see what results you get from both.
I've been using both this month for the first time. the CBER gave me a positive a bit later than my cheapie opks did. But my first + opk was barely positive (just a tad darker than the control) so honestly it could just be your urine and how concentrated it it.
It was exactly as dark as the control line. I know this because I showed it to my husband and said, "Are these two lines equally dark, or is it just me?" And his eyes lit up and he said, "Yes! They definitely are! We're having a BABY?!"
