I'm a reg on ML, so this is a C&P from there.
I like wearing extensions but haven't bought a set in a while that matches my color. The problem is that I'm looking to go back to ombre hair in the Spring.
Do you think I could get a stylist to color the extensions? Could I get a set the same color as the bottom of the ombre and pull it off?
I guess I could also color the top of the set to match my color too.
This is what I'm thinking of- I have dark hair and did the ombre thing last year but I went too light on the ends.
Wellll I probably won't be much help because I don't have clip in extensions. I DO have extensions but they're the ones that a sewn to a braid in my hair. I've had them probably 6 to 8 times in the last 7 or 8 years so I'm super familiar with them and they work really well for me.
My extensions are actually ombre themselves. We ordered them for the dark part to match my natural hair color and the ends to be lighter. When they came the contrast was a little more drastic than I wanted so we just worked a little dark color further down on the extensions to shorten the light part and blend it more, then just pulled a little color through to tone down the light brown make the ombre a little more subtle.
I would recommend buying the extensions in whatever color you want your ends to be and then color the top of them to match your own hair or color your own hair and the extensions at the same time to ensure it's the same. Taking the hair darker will be more consistent and predictable than attempting to lighten the hair on the extensions. It's hard to know what color any hair will turn when you bleach it to lighten so take the safer route.
Good luck! It's been fun playing with the color and making it my own Extensions are fun!

Thanks. I figured this would be my best bet. I have an old set in the color I want the ombre to be, so I may test it out on those first to get the dark length I'll need.
You may be ok with just having them be the lighter color, depending on how long/thick your hair is. If not, your best bet would be to color the top of the lighter ones, rather than trying to lighten the extensions. Your stylist should be able to do this without a problem.
