I just use a cheap digital oral thermometer I got from the pharmacy. It measures to the closest 0.1, which is what is recommended by TCOYF. I've seen temp shifts with it, even when not temping the same time every day.
NOT the Target one. It beeps about seventy million times, which annoys H to no end and makes me afraid to temp when we're staying at his parents' house this weekend.

Mine from Amazon does this. I just put a piece of tape over the sound hole. I can still hear it very faintly which helps me know that its in my mouth all the way when I'm basically asleep when taking my temp.

do you have a basal thermometer? I read several reviews for basal thermometers on Amazon, and from what I've read, only the basal thermometers did that. that's why I have a basic fever thermometer, other than cost.

fever thermometers are not as accurate as the BBT thermometer. You should use the basal thermometer for temping. Also mine doesn't beep too much or too loud.

Not according to TCOYF. The point is seeing a temp shift. Consistency is more important than a fancy thermometer.
I don't consider it a "fancy" thermometer?? It was like $10 and it measures your temp more accurately bc it can measure your temp in smaller incraments.. Some people don't have huge temp shifts so being able to see a smaller shift can be helpful when determining ovulation. Here's an article that discusses the differences.
I definitely read that you should use a BBT, not a fever one. But they're both electronic so, so could there be a huge difference? I have an $8 one Amazon (Nex-something?). I muzzle the beeping with my hand.

Thanks for the tip. Good luck this weekend!
I use the Target one. I stare at it while it's in my mouth so I pretty much know my temp and once it beeps I shut it off. H is sleeping and he never hears it. It takes just 1 minute.

Mines not a basal temp an it beeps 10x to say that the temp is done. So annoying!
Originally purchased one from Target. But it was missing a key feature...backlit display! So I ordered the most popular Amazon option, the Nexcare. It does beep, but I muffle the sound with my thumb.
