I don't think you're breaking any rules, I just wonder if you'll tire of it. No one ever gets tired of regular openings. People do get tired of different openings. See: 1988.
Also, because of your home's age, I assume you have the standard 8' ceilings? I wonder if that arch works in part because those ceilings are 10'-12' and that's a 12'-15' opening. I wonder how it would look in a regular home.

My neighbor (in our neighborhood of 1960's ranches) put a similar arch in her kitchen. It was a little higher up, though, maybe 4" tall in the middle and 6-8 on the edge. So within what a normal doorway opening would be.
It was gorgeous. Her custom cabinetmaker made it to match the cabinets. I was so jealous.
I think you'll be fine. That's a pretty standard traditional looking, undated arch. Those 80s arches were all odd weird shapes and as a result stick out like a sore thumb.
The 100 year old farm house I grew up in had an arch like that between the living and dining rooms, but standard doorways everywhere else. I think it would be fine.
So our home is approx. 65 years old. We have just simple straight lines throughout, nothing special. We are remodeling the kitchen and I want to do an arch like this:

My house was built in 1940 and it has an arch from the living room to the dining room and the foyer to the living room, but regular doorways everywhere else.
I think its fine. It actually looks kind of nice! I think an arch is classic.
My girlfriend had an arched doorway that leads from her kitchen into the family room. The rest of her doorways are standard. It's done in brick and it's amazing.
