One of my friends did red and pink with aqua for a girl's nursery. It turned out really well - her mom made the bedding/quilt with a lot of neat patterns. My friend is also an art major turned graphic designer turned art teacher, lol, so she's usually very good with mixing colors and patterns.
Me too. If they'd done a different rug, I think the red chairs could have been okay, but as is it's terrible. Does it turn white again on the edge under the bed?
YHL is doing that combo in clara's new room. Not a fan
I refuse to give them the views, so I am not going to go look, but I am not surprised that people don't think it is working for them. I just don't think they have the 'discerning eye' thing going for them.
ETA: After seeing response below saying that Clara asked for those colors, I will say that I really like that they are honoring her choices and giving her what she wants. I am a firm believer in kid rooms being places that make them happy and that they have a say in the decor.
I'm not a huge fan of the combination in adult spaces, but since Clara specifically requested those colours I like that they are going with it. It's bright and kid friendly.
I'll reserve judgment until the room is done. Lord knows my "in process" phases look awful.

I like the color combo for little girls. Clara's room is cute but something about that rug bothers me and I think it's the gradient. Maybe it wouldn't irk me so much if it was all gradient and no dots or all dots and no gradient. I don't mind the lamp shade but that moose is kind of dumb but again it's for a little girl so yeah. I love the chairs with red backs, I think it's fun. Super glad they threw in some neutral curtains and it's a good start to introducing navy too (although they don't look navy in the pic).
Ok so I looked! I'm with heygrey. It's not the best, but it's also inprocess. And Clara is 2..give the kid what she wants. It's only paint in a playspace. I'm honestly so tired of the white tan let's chandelier the playroom look that I rather enjoy a fresh colorful twist instead. I'd like to see the rug have some more pattern but I don't hate it. I hate the curtains though. They need something tying in the colors in a fun pattern.
The curtains are the wrong scale...they compete with the bedding big time.
I am not crazy about the color of the curtains, but it doesn't bother me as much as the color of the sheet. It sounds kind of stupid, but if you cover up the sheet, everything else seems to go together better (although the red tone on the pillow on the bed seems off a bit).
I love pink and red together. Used them in my wedding, actually! But like any color combo, the shade of the color makes a big difference. Which is part of the problem with Clara's room, I think...
