He is being admitted to the vet for IV treatment. He has been throwing up, so we brought him in yesterday. And the bloodwork showed sky high kidney levels. And to make this MM: it will be ~$1000 for the night and the tests.
Update: The ultrasound showed that his left kidney was gone. They sent off his xrays from 3 years ago and it looks like he was only born with 1 kidney. And the one kidney is in renal failure. His kidney values have not changed in 24 hours. He's staying another night to receive more IV fluids. We will bring him home tomorrow and will give him subcutaneous fluids at home. If the kidney levels are still high, then we will just make him as comfortable as possible. H and I are going to visit him right now. I am a complete mess. Please pray for my boy. He is the best cat we have ever owned and is so special to us. Thanks!
((Hugs)) When my kitty went into kidney failure we learned how to do the IV fluids at home. It was difficult at first but she got used to it and learned it made her feel much better.
Thanks everyone! The vet called and and said that either he was born without his right kidney or it's so atrophied from the kidney disease that it was not visible on the xray. Having only 1 kidney would explain why he has been prone to kidney infections. My poor boy. I hope he can come home tomorrow; I miss him dearly.
