I didn't so much do D&R as finally take pictures of previously done D&R. But now my previous efforts are up for viewing!
In November/December we got a new media cabinet, and I re-covered the throw pillows and made a runner for the media cabinet. Then last month my dad built us a gate for the family room/kitchen doorway. We used to keep a regular baby gate there, because it seems like with fair frequency I've always needed to gate Doggie D away from wet paint, trick or treaters, an open door while groceries are coming in, etc., etc. Especially with Puppy D, having a permanent gate is so nice.
I feel like the walls are pretty bare, excepting the fireplace wall. I can't decide what kinds/sizes of things I should put where though. I guess bare walls are better than bad choices though!
Love the new gate! I wish we had something like that! Love all the dog bombings in those pics.
I just ripped up some plywood and added two more rolls of insulation in the attic (maybe 6 rolls left to go). Slowly but surely. It's going to be a year-long project to finish my attic the way I want, I think, but it's not picture-worthy in the process. I'm so happy to finally be doing a project that isn't constantly visible. It makes me an uptight mess when things are in disarray in the living spaces. With the attic, I can just close the stairs and pretend it's not there if I want.
i've been crocheting. my patterns are mostly gotten from pinterest, sometimes from raverly or lion heart. this weekend's project is a knit beanie for a co-worker friend of mine (requested after she saw the one i was wearing).
earlier this month i made baby booties (we found out we are having a girl in january, so i was wanting to make little mary janes). luckily i found a really easy pattern (i prefer easy patterns).
I went to the Philadelphia Home Show with lightbulbsun. I don't think it was quite what we expected - there were a lot of random exhibitors and a lot of hot tubs. We both agreed that a $15,000 jacuzzi that seats 15 people would make a great addition to the back yard. I was hoping there would be more interesting stuff, like new trends in tile or something but we had fun. I did manage to get a quote for my counters which was handy.
I went to Home Depot today to look at tile and noticed that a Tile Shop store is going up near me. I'm really excited, especially since the HD selection in-store was bleh.
Other than that, the snow made me a bit of a slug.
I didn't do any D*R actually. I caught up on playtime with Rubes instead. She did fingerpaint on a giant poster board. I'm thinking of cutting it up into two frames above our bed that currently house some rose print fabric I'm tired of.
I've been to Fabric Row, Calico Corners and 2 different Joann's (an A and a B store). It's for my LR chair- I need something to coordinate with my olive green couch, sagey capets and luggage brown leather chair. The room is fairly formal in structure, but I have introduced some more rustic antiques in pine and natural cherry.
In addition to the chair, I need to make 5 sets of curtain panels, chair pads for the dining room, pillows for the LR and cover DH's ottoman. I'm thinking a stripe of solid for the curtains and perhaps a texture for cushions and some of the pillows.
IMHO, there's not much out there aside from a lot of boring florals, scads of ikat and chevrons.

The Home Show is wacked. It's always a bunch of new-to-the-business vendors highlighting whatever the newest trend is. One year BFF and I went and it was all EPHenry hardscaping, another year it was all Azek and Trex decking. And hot tubs, tubliner systems, hot tubs, cabinet refacing and hot tubs.
I bought a new shower curtain, pictures, and bath mat for our bathroom. It totally changes the whole look of the room and I love it. I'm starting to search for new bedroom suites. So many choices!!!
My weekend started off with the dog finding a 16GB SD card and giving it a chomp. I got it from him right away, but it was too late. So I've been spending a bunch of time trying to organize photos, figure out what we did have backed up and make a better system for photo storage. We didn't lose too much, but we did lose Christmas and a recent visit by some family.
So no D&R, but I did make it to IKEA and Hobby Lobby yesterday for some fun things.

Oh yeah, all that was there too. There were wine slushies. Those were nice.
H and I majorly overhauled our basement into an actual clean, useable space. I organized my crafts/paints, we set up a guest room and we set up a tv with dvd player so my girls actually hang out there. It was so much work and I think I'm going to be very sore tomorrow. But what a relief to get that done.
I did nothing. DH ripped out the kitchen in our semi-finished basement and figured out which cabinets that we tore out from upstairs could be re-used down there or in the garage. He also hung cabinets in the garage and built a shelf and hung the bikes from the ceiling. I took a nap, sat with my feet up, and went to a baby shower. I'm useless.
My H and I are in the process of painting our hallways/ceilings upstairs. Finished downstairs last month. We finished the first coat on the ceilings this weekend upstairs. There is a large section that is 2 stories tall so it was very time-consuming having to move our huge ladder frequently to paint. But it looks so good.....can't wait to do the wall color next month!

Ours is not 'new-to-the-business vendors'....or rather, not very many. We always see mostly the same vendors there, and many of them seem to have been in business for 15-30 years.
One of our neighbors seems to use the home show to meet/hire all of her contractors. She's done pretty well for the most part, except for her cabinet refacing people. They weren't any more expensive than anyone else, but they really dragged their feet to fix a couple of issues that came up, and were a pita to deal with.
Another of our neighbors is a contractor and says that he gets enough business from the show to cover the cost, and then gets a lot more business from those people giving recommendations, so it is worth it to him to have a booth there.

Saturday was awesome. I got so much done. -installed blocking for towel bars, hooks, shelf, sink cabinet, shower glass and radiator. -added blocking at corner where original framing isn't bearing on anything. (Nice) -frosted glass for window. -insulated walls -stubbed out plumbing
Today sucked balls. I wrote a fake "How to Rough-in a Shower Drain" post that is really all about how sometimes it SUCKS to have kids and be renovating. I'd C&P, but it is long. www.86nit.com/2013/02/how-to-rough-in-shower-drain.html

Not nearly as much as I would have liked. Saturday, I had a polar bear swim in the am, then we had to run some errands. Our sellers didn't get the last of their stuff out of the house until nearly 5pm. After that, we ripped out carpet upstairs (more details to come) and I started to peel the wallpaper out of the downstairs bathroom. Most of that came down, then I realized I couldn't do more without a ladder. Same time, R realized that there was no light upstairs.
Today we spent WAY more time than necessary driving around to find flooring (again, more details later). R installed weatherstripping, I fixed the furnace door, cleaned cabinets, etc. Photos are pending.
I finally FINALLY finished the base trim in the office/guest bedroom . At long last all the trim in my house matches!! Woo hoo!
I also played around with my new nail gun and looked at routers - but failed to be decisive enough to buy one. I bought the lumber and trim to do the first of my windows and sketched put a plan for doing them. I'll have to decide on a router before next weekend because I'm eager to start!
I didn't do anything except clean, but my H and dad replaced both of our exterior doors that I've been wanting done for 2 years! Finally I just set up a day for dad to come over and help H and informed H of it at the beginning of the week. YAY!
Not much since we were OOT for a funeral until late Saturday.
Yesterday was major cleaning of our kitchen cabinets to make way for baby stuff. I also brought home my baby quilt and some beatrix potter kid plates from my parents.
We cut some quarter round moulding. DH was trying to cut a 45 degree angle free hand and I suggested we ask to borrow my dad's miter box. It turns out that my dad's miter box used to be his dad's (my grandpa) and it was a total antique. But... it worked perfectly! Not really picture worthy but the area looks so much better with trim.
With TONS of help (my mom, MH's parents, and our favoritest friend in the whole wide world who has been invaluable throughout this reno) we finished painting the dining room side of the kitchen, cleared the painting supplies and tools out of the guest room, pulled the guest room "furniture" out of storage (along with my stuffed animals from when I was a kid!), patched up some holes in the walls and put the first coat of paint up in the hallway, finished up the last lingering bit of work in the hall bath (had to caulk the edges of the laundry chute hole), got the shelves installed in the linen closet, AND got the bedroom doors installed.
Oh, and did the last of the pre-baby wash on the baby stuff. And MIL cleaned my bathtub because I can't really do it with this giant watermelon stuffed under my shirt. (I was cringing at the thought, but she offered and then just declared that she was going to do it anyway when I hesitated because MH ratted me out and told her that I don't MIND if she cleans, i just feel bad/guilty about it because then she knows I'm a total slob.)
Out of all that...all I did was throw in a load of laundry and paint the kitchen trim and the hallway walls. I am in the depths of a serious i love you man moment for how awesome our friends and family have been in the home stretch, because if you've been following along on the slowly dwindling pre-baby to-do list, you know that this means we're pretty well done. So...yup, gooooooood D&R weekend for me.
ETA: PiP! Forgot those...
guest room - needs some actual D now that the R part is done obviously, but it's a functional guest room!
Hallway - with doors!!!!! (and one coat of paint. Trim still needs to be painted and MH has to reinstall the handrail once the paint is done.)
And...the nursery will get AWed in it's own post because I'm excited about it. And I need to ask for suggestions for finishing touches.
