OP, I love it. My only concern would be that I grew up in a house from the 1850's and it was a PITA. There was always something that needed to be done. So, while I think the price is great, I'd think pretty hard if it something I'd actually want to commit myself to (I, personally, wouldn't).
I think it takes a certain type of person to commit to a place like that...someone who 'gets it' for sure.
ETA: It actually seems like it may have had a fair amount of money put into it by the previous owners....maybe what contributed to the foreclosure. We've seen foreclosures on the market and they seem to be divided into two categories...the ones whose owners were hurting for money to begin with and the ones who put a lot of money into renos.
Is it your aesthetic style? It's decorated like a pioneer museum. While it doesn't have to stay that way, chrome & glass aren't exactly gonna fit here. I might feel stifled re: decor and that wouldn't be cool long term.
It does look like it's had LOTS of work done, but make SURE you get a million inspections for every system in that house. Get estimates from contractors for any necessary work before putting in an offer.
Thanks for the feedback so far. The more we talk about the house the more I can picture myself living there. We would want to modernize it some. We'd redo the kitchen. We think we would want to do like a rustic chic type of look in there.
