Taking cipro and flagyl following my recent hospitalization for infectious colitis. They are killing me - making me so nauseated. I can't figure out what to eat - right now I'm living on saltines and ginger ale. I attempted chicken soup tonight and it was a huge no-go. Ugh. Not sure how I'm going to keep this up for 10 more days. I need to go back to work tomorrow and hope to get through the day without picking on anyone.
Yeah - I can't take prescription painkillers without anti-nausea drugs, and even then it barely works. Only thing that works is zofran by IV. But I really need to eat something real and it's not happening right now.

Make sure that you are taking probiotics when you take antibiotics, this is the only thing that gets me through! Also, my doctor suggested slightly green bananas as something that I would be able to keep down with the meds, and for whatever reason it seems to work for me. Good luck and feel better soon!

if it doesn't help to take the nausea meds prior to the antibiotics, call and ask for another anti nausea. there are several options. zofran odt dissolves under your tongue and might be a better choice for you
There's also a patch you can put behind your ear (like a quit smoking patch) that delivers the meds. I put those on before surgery and keep them on for a full day at a time.

Flagyl sucks. You might try sucking peppermints when you feel really nauseous. The scent/taste helps combat some of it for me. But Zofran is really the best help.
