throw pillows when somebody is actually sitting on your couch? I always see all these room inspirations with decorative pillows but DS is in his throwing everything around phase. So I'm just curious what ya'll do with your pillows on the couch and in the bed. I've got some decorative pillows that came with our bedding but they just live in the closet for now.
Okay so at least I'm not the only one who has this question. Ha. I have enough crap on the floor at any given time since the living room has turned into DS's play room. I don't need pillows down there too.
i eliminated a lot of the throw pillows for this reason. we have a couple that are pretty but functional so someone is usually cuddling up with them on the couch, but otherwise they get tossed on the floor.
while my goal is to always combine function and beauty, i have learned that i don't want a magazine worthy home if it requires constant clutter upkeep. picking up pillows nine thousand times a day is my version of hell, so even though i like the cozy look of lots of pillows it just isn't happening in my house.
I guess we don't have that many pillow? DH isn't a pillows on the bed guy (except for the sleeping ones and the sham) and he's not a fan of a ton of throw pillows. Our big chair has 3 and our couch only has 4, 2 on each end.
I don't have kids but most of my friends do so the pillow become forts or doll beds or what ever when we entertain. We only have two on the small couch and three on the large one.
? Sit with them? I'm sorta confused. How many pillows are we talking about here? I put 2 on each end of the couch. They're down, so they smush quite small if I'm having a party and 4 people need to sit on the couch. My chairs each have kidney pillows, but they really do make the chairs more comfortable.
For the bed, the pillows go on top of a wicker trunk for the night, then back on the bed in the morning.

LOL this was my first thought. My pillows don't take up much room, and most people who come to visit just....sit with them. DD and the H use them for forts, but at the end of the night when we're picking up toys, I always put them back. NBD.
Well this weekend we went to one of DS's classmate's house for her birthday party. They had pillowback couch and loveseat and I think the couch had two pillows on each side. To me, pillow back couches aren't comfortable to begin with and then all those pillows. They'd never stay on the couch. I don't even know if they'd stay in the living room with DS running around.
I just realized I have 12 pillows on my couch lol. But my couch is huge and they really don't get in the way, DH and I use them when we're lounging. DS does like to throw them around or bury himself under them but I just put them back when he's done.
I love the look of lots of pillows but I think the idea of them being on the floor and me having to pick them up all the time would drive me crazy. It's already hard enough to keep the house somewhat tidy.

We actually use them on the couch. The bed ones live on the chair near the bed until we make the bed for company. Never have more than 2-3 for that reason.

This is where I am. I have enough sh*t to pickup. I went on a major clutter clearing spree right before Christmas and I've never been happier. I don't miss the half of it.
I do have throw pillows in the LR, but their on the side chairs, so I just slide them under the chair when in use, NBD. My couch is leather and has none but it's a look that works.
There's one on the bed. It ends up on the floor with everything else.
I have a basket next to the couch. Sometimes the pillows are on and sometimes the are off. A lot of the time I take the pillows off so the dogs don't sit on them. They are like pillow magnets. They see one pillow on the couch and lots of free space, they go to the pillow. It can be a pain, but I love the look of the pillows too much to not have them. So, they sit in the basket during everyday use and abuse of the couch.
I pile them around to make a nest. Seriously not everyone does this?
I don't make a nest, but I do use them when I sit for lumbar support, arm rest, whatever. I have never seen people take them off when people are sitting.
I've noticed at my Mom's house that some people lean on them, while others kind of hold them on their laps while they are sitting there talking, knd of like a kid with a stuffed animal.
I will tell you sitting on our couch is a lot more comfortable for me at this stage in pregnancy with two of our throw pillows built up behind my back! We only have two square and two rectangle throw pillows on our sectional though and H and I always use them when we're lounging. When people come over, they go in one area on the couch, or some people sit with them.
I use the pillows! My couch is too deep for me without a pillow behind my back. Or, when I lay down,I use them for my head. I have two pillows on each couch, so it's not an overload.
