So I have an appointment with my ob/gyn on Friday. We have been TTC technically for 7 months, 6 full cycles (we decided to start mid-cycle; I had already been off bcp for 4 months), using opks for 4 cycles. I do not have any reason to believe there will be issues, but my husband is in his early 40s and wants to be a young dad... If this isn't going to happen naturally, we want to know so we can start thinking about adoption.
This is a new OB/gyn for me -- I saw her once for my annual back in June or July. I like her, but I don't know her very well obviously. I plan on bringing my charts, but other than that, I am questioning if I need a game plan. Do I just give her the chart info and see what she says? Are there certain things I should expect her to mention that are worth bringing up if she doesn't?
I would expect her to run a blood test and check for hormone levels such as: thyroid levels, LH, FSH progesterone, testosterone, etc. I'm not sure what else, but good luck!

I saw my GYN at 6 months for my annual exam. I showed her my charts and she was happy with them. She had taken blood work at an appointment I had before we started TTC to check my thyroid and immunity to some vaccinations that you can't get after you are pregnant. She told me to keep trying for 6 more months then call her if no success. This is with me having a somewhat large fibroid.
It can take up to a year for a healthy couple to get pregnant, so I wouldn't expect her to necessarily do anything, unless you are over 35.

Are you over 35? Or do your charts show any problems like LPD? If not, then there is a really good chance that your doctor won't do anything until its been over a year.
Thanks for the input. I had an appt with her before I started TTC just for my annual, and she was on board with this timing for a return visit if I hadn't had any luck, so I don't think she'd take the appt just to say "keep trying." But I guess I will find out. As for my cycles "regulating," wonky is regular for me off of bcp and always was for my mom too (who had 2 kids with cycles from 21-39d), so it's unlikely that that is a factor.

I have no experience with this but I think having your charts is enough of a game plan for now. We've been trying for 4 cycles and only the last two have been ovulatory so my obgyn told me to let her know in 4 months (so 6 months from normal) if we haven't succeded yet. So I think going in now is pretty normal. Hope you hear good news!
