I just realized our mudroom builtin is not complete and needs a place to hang stuff. WDYT of using wooden pegs instead of using robe hooks? The space for the pegs/hooks is only 4" tall. If you think I should put robe hooks, please recommend a specific one. Thanks!

I'm not sure yet what we'll be hanging in the builtin. There's a 5ft wide closet on the other side of the room and a 3ft counter area (which will be our mail center or something which will probably have a place to hang keys or smaller items).
Sorry, but 1 more question. WDYT of this shelf pin? I like the idea that you can screw it on the shelf from the bottom. I want a movable shelf that kids can't easily pull out or move. Good idea?
I have double hooks in the Mudroom which I like because I can hang two like things together on one hook, but can easily get one off without taking the other off. For example, the dog has one hook and I keep the leash on the big part of the hook and his paw towel on the small part.
Hooks with two longer screws. Weight will pull the pegs right out of the wall over time. Their stuff might be light now, but hang wet lined hoodie and a high school backpack off a peg and you will have a pile on the floor.
The pegs look cute, but once they hand their crap off them, you won't see them anyway.
One of my scouts built shelves for his church library using that hardware in the preschool area. They're a little awkward to install the screws, but very safe.

boiler --- Thanks. I really hope the mudroom will catch all our junk and the kitchen/kitchen nook area will stay clear. Thanks for the ideas. I'll check out the double hooks and see if they would fit.
auntie --- Good points. So hooks because of how much weight it can support? As previously mentioned though, I'm not sure what that hanging area will be used for. First, I don't want anything wet to be hung there. Backpacks? I don't want backpacks there either since it takes space and can't imagine my kids or me lifting a heavy backpack to hang that high.
I did design the builtin to have 4 sections (the ones on sides), one for each family member. Each section has a couple of movable shelves. The kids will have the lower section to use for their books, hats, lunch boxes, and a place to easily shove a heavy backpack. I don't see why a backpack needs to be hung.
For a place for wet stuff to be hung, the L-shaped room is actually a mudroom/laundry room. We could add hooks in the laundry section for wet stuff but may not be necessary since there's already going to be hanging area there. Or, there's a place to install hook just right outside the door to the garage.
I guess I'm too picky on what goes into the hanging area of the builtin. LOL. The 4" height was actually designed to accommodate wooden pegs, not hooks. Just wondering if I should change original design and put hooks. The hooks posted above won't fit I think based on the backplate dimension on the HD website.
emjacobs --- I guess the problem now if we go with hooks is to find one that would fit the space. On the shelf pins/brackets, yeah I'm sure my kids will be climbing on the shelves. Glad you agree it's a good choice.
