DH and I are finally going to attack our master bedroom. It has not been touched since we moved in 3 years ago. I want to choose bedding first and use that as my jumping off point. My question is where is the best place to get quality bedding that is machine washable? I have had my eye on a deep navy blue quilt from West Elm but I don't know much about their bedding. Is there somewhere else I should check out? I am looking for more of a mix & match style compared to a bedding set. I have an eclectic style. I purchased a new set from JC Penney that was terrible. I have beeen afraid to bite the bullet and purchase a new set after I flushed $300+ down the toilet once.
I don't know about the bedding at West Elm, but I've been very happy with my bedding from Pottery Barn. I was able to buy my sheets a la carte, which is nice since I just needed fitted sheets and no top sheet. I also love that their duvet covers have ties that tie on to their duvets. My sheets and duvet cover are soft and I have no pilling, and they look good.
I got our cotton duvet cover and duvet from The Company Store about a year ago, and I've been very happy with it. I also got some linen guest bedding from RH that I like, but it was too pricey (I was desperate and couldn't find anything else I even kind of liked). I love having a washable duvet cover.
I've never had anything from West Elm, but I've discovered that the biggest factor for me with bedding is having natural materials. Synthetics like polyester and acrylic, which is a lot of what I see at the mall, just end up looking gross very soon and don't hold up well. Cotton, linen, wool, etc. wear beautifully.
I will say as much as I love my C&B duvet, it hasn't washed and worn as well as I would like. It's not horrible, but to me, for the price, I would have preferred it lasted looking nice a bit longer.
There is a paisley duvet at PB I'm eyeing, but DH would kill me if I bought any more bedding, I went through a phase a couple years ago.
I have a duvet cover from West Elm and I'm happy with it so far. I've only had it for maybe 5 months but it has been washing nicely (100% organic cotton), and I like that it has the ties inside to keep it from shifting around. The biggest complaint I have is that one button popped off (easily fixable), but another button cracked in half.
i have a pintuck duvet from West Elm and I love it but haven't used it yet since we are moving in a couple of weeks. I bought a Calvin Klein duvet set on sale from Macys that is so soft and beautiful that we will use for our guest room.
