I voted SS. I competed in middle and high school on my local swim team. Although I do occasionally swim for exercise and to practice my strokes, most of my time in a pool now consists of relaxing and reading a book in a floaty chair.

I know how to swim, in a basic survival sort of way. I don't swim for fun/exercise, if I go to the pool no laps are swam, but if the shit got real, I'd live. it was really important to my parents that I know how to swim. they considered it a life skill. but I don't swim for fun. ever.
BUT I'd like to be one of those people who can roll up to a swimming pool and crank out some laps for exercise. the public pools are FREE here for residents. I'd really like to be able to use that as XT for running, but a) I don't like it and b) I'm not a strong swimmer.
I am a decent swimmer when I do it but I haven't swam for about a year. We used to swim with a triathlon club group and we would just do their workouts.

Twin
Tritto. Except I have 2 kids. Now, I'm in the pool 5 days a week hunting or being hunted by a six-year-old with a super-soaker. Swimming laps sounds great.
I grew up a swimmer, and now I do 2 planned swim workouts a week. I'd like to join a masters team, but the closest one is just a bit too far for me at 5:30 am
I voted "do a planned workout" but they aren't overly planned. I go and swim laps for x amount of time. I would consider myself a strong swimmer, but I never learned flip turns, so sometimes I think that leads to cheating at turnaround time. I haven't taken the time to learn them though, because I really just want to get the exercise in.
I took swimming lessons last year and now I can claim to be a swimmer. I'm still not very strong but I can swim laps and could maybe save my own life. Before the tender age of 28, I was only able to doggie paddle and all water activities consisted of splashing in the shallow end. Now I actually get my face wet.
I can't even hold my breath without plugging my nose and it's something I'm quite embarrassed about. I'm looking into lessons, but I feel silly.
Don't feel silly. The adult lessons that I went to always filled up fast. You won't be the only person who can't hold your breath under water. My very first adult swim class was spent blowing bubbles in the water. All six of us needed that lesson.
I can swim, but I haven't done laps in years. I'll be at the pool almost every day this Summer with the kids, and hope to have the older two swimming a lap (or portion of) by the end of August

I used to swim and was even on swim teams as a kid, but I haven't really swam in years and I think I'd need to take a lesson or at least a stroke clinic before swimming laps to make sure I'm doing it correctly. I know my breaststroke is really off, for example.

I can swim for recreation and wouldn't drown if the situation occurred. But I've never swam for exercise and have no clue about form and the different strokes. I do want lessons though!

I can swim, but I've never learned how to swim properly - no swim lessons for me. I know my form is all off. I will still swim a few laps for fun, but usually you'll find me just lounging on a floaty or playing around.

I was on a swim team growing up, but my pool time these days is when we take the kids. I did join the gym at work with the intention of swimming laps, but I haven't swam there yet.

I didn't know how to swim and took lessons. DH and I had a couple sessions with a personal swim instructor. He could swim a little, but wanted to improve his technique.
I took lessons as a kid and can do strokes, but don't really enjoy swimming laps. The only swimming I do now is jumping off the boat on the middle of the lake. I can tread water like a champ
I was a total water baby as a kid, we were at the community pool almost every day in the summer and vacationed at the beach a lot. I was also on the swim team in high school, I was not a particularly fast swimmer but I really enjoyed it.
Now if I'm in a pool it's usually just relaxing. I should swim laps, it's great exercise!

I could swim (and have in the past) on a masters team, but I don't want to spend the extra $40/mo to join the team that practices at 7:30 pm. If I could find an AM masters team near me, I'd be all over it. For now, I just use swimplan and do my own workout.

I was on swim team from 2nd grade until I was a freshman in college. I started swimming again last year and still love it. I do 2 swim workouts a week but would love to do more. I would love to join a masters team, but the only one around me is too far away to make it worth it. Swimming is definetly my strongest of the 3 triathlete sports.
I can swim, but I have no desire to swim laps or anything. I grew up at the beach and practically lived at the neighborhood pool as a kid, but I never joined swim team like my sister and tons of my friends did. I got contacts when I was 9 and I never managed to figure out how to use goggles properly. I could probably do a decent backstroke but wouldn't bet on it. Also, I suck at freestyle, the whole breathing thing threw me off as a kid and I always did something kind of like breast stroke so I could play sharks an minnows in the deep end but but I'm positive it's not proper form. I'm in the prefers to lounge on a floaty thing camp now.
