They wouldn't let me cross the border. Apparently they think I might not come back, even though I had a return ticket. So now I'm sitting in Windsor waiting for someone to come pick me up and bring proof that I live and go to school in Canada. If I can't get across the border, I'm not meeting him. So yeah, maybe a higher power is telling me this is a bad idea? haha
Well, I for one am glad they're finally cracking down on all those lazy Canadians trying to sneak in here, steal our jobs, and live off the government teat.
You know what I've travelled back and forth to Seattle and Gita be honest this has never been an issues. This is a sign. Further to the fact that you were already a bit unsure, and posted to get other peoples perspective. If he is a great guy, and it's already been 2years online, he can shell out the time and money to come see you, and stay in a hotel in your city.
I know you want to meet this guy, and you probably are looking pretty hard for a BF, but in my experience one person shouldn't have to do all the work. And in this instance a gentleman would do the traveling.
Good luck!

When I was 19, I travelled alone to Chicago by train. I didn't have this much trouble. These border guards don't think you should do this trip either. Time to go home and enjoy flooded Toronto for the weekend.

Don't forget sneak into our elections!
And taking over our news by getting murdered in cottages!

I'm still waiting... It's probably going to be another 3 hours before my ride gets here. I'll definitely update again soon. I'm still going to try and cross the border again. Ugh.
Oh FFS. I'm just pissed that we won't get to say I told you so when you're hacked into little tiny pieces. Just so you know, there is more than one dude in the world.
Wow. You aren't even sure if this is a good idea, people have been telling you how much of a bad idea this all is and now you can't even get across the border? That's a freaking sign. Why on earth would you still try to go see him? Go home. You tried. It's his turn.
Won't you miss the bus? I definitely think this is a Higher Power at work. I still don't understand why he doesn't just come and visit you. My dad has a cottage in MI so I get that it's beautiful and like a vacation but has he ever even offered to come see you?
Yes he does. He knows that if I can't get across the border, I'm not coming. He's ok with that. Disappointed, but he understands.
He is so not into you. And this is coming from someone who accidentally started a relationship online. I got reaquainted with a high school friend on FB. Next thing I know, he took two weeks off from work and flew out to see me because he wanted to. And then every. single. time I visited him, he booked my plane ticket and paid for it. Because we were into each other. If this guy gave two shits about you, he would make the visit happen, not just be a little disappointed. Give up. You look desperate.
Yes he does. He knows that if I can't get across the border, I'm not coming. He's ok with that. Disappointed, but he understands.
So if you're not allowed by the government to cross the border after sitting 12 hours on a bus and 5 and counting hours detained in immigration he "understands"? What a prince.
As Kuus likes to say, there are more than 4 men in the world.

Wtf, why? This is not a good idea. Go home. The universe is trying to help you dodge this bullet, stop trying to throw yourself in front of it.
Yes he does. He knows that if I can't get across the border, I'm not coming. He's ok with that. Disappointed, but he understands.
This makes me sad for you. At this point, he should be telling you to go home and he'll try to find a flight to you. This guy wasnt worth the 12 hour bus ride, he sure as hell isnt worth being detained at the border! This sounds so ridiculous to say, but I have to say ridiculous things everyday, so this needs to be said.

Go back to Toronto. At this point you look too desperate it's embarrassing! Is someone driving 4 hours to bring proof? That's crazy! Why do the border people think you are trying to illegally immigrate? This is odd. Did they stop anyone else on the bus? This is a sign for sure.
This guy can fly to see you in toronto. If he doesn't he's just not that in to you. Think about it for a while - Why would an LA lawyer want a relationship with a early 20's, 4th year psych student (per your blog)? If you were your own daughter what would you think about that? Come on!
yeah, you can never say "i'm going to see a guy!" because then they will be suspicious and ask you all of these questions...when my H and I were dating I used to say I'm seeing my boyfriend but soon I learned my lesson and said I was visiting a friend from college or attending a wedding.
Interesting!
I guess I am always going on vacation when crossing the border...my friend was going to marry her fiance who was American and she got stopped at the border the day before her wedding day and wasn't allowed to cross for a year! She lived at the border and had to get a shit job and shit apartment so they could see eachother on weekends when he would drive over. They did finally marry and she moved to the US but they divorced a year later:(
