I've gotten the primer and 1st coat of paint on. I'm headed over there in about 20 minutes to put the 2nd coat of paint on.
A few observations: because of our time frame, I'm not doing this "right". I'm doing it "okay." I've been painting fast and admittedly somewhat sloppily - as a result, I have to sand down the drawer fronts and do them again (had a few drips/runs that I can't ignore). Argh. I'm only doing primer and one coat of paint on the back side of the cabinet doors. Time constraints are what they are though - the carpet cleaner is coming tomorrow at 9am to clean the carpet which is currently dropclothed under the cabinet doors. I have nowhere else to put them (it's raining outside and we have no garage) so we're putting them up tonight and they'll just have to cure in place instead of resting on their pyramids. I'm taking comfort in the fact that this is just a stopgap until we can gut and redo the kitchen (5-10 years).
All that to say - thanks for the help with paint color selection. I love it.
Kitchen at the moment:
and the cabinet doors drying (the paint color, wet, gave me a heart attack. I was all "attack of the 90s! Ack!):
P.S. I didn't paint my inner sides in the bathrooms. But I didn't do it right anyway. When you rehang the doors, are you sure the paint will be cured enough to not stick to the base? Get the little pad things JIC? Just thoughts.
We're just not going to shut the doors until the 26th. Literally. We've just got to get them off the floor for tomorrow, but we're not moving in fully until the 26th, so I've got time to let them cure completely before we have to shut them - it'll just be a different way than I would normally do.
Also ... someone shoot me if I ever get tired of this color and want to repaint. The detail work on these is TEDIOUS, to say the least.
Love the color!! MIL painted her cabinets forest green in the late 80s or early 90s and didn't repaint, couldn't bear the thought of repainting, until last summer after I had been nagging her for years over how incredibly outdated they were. So yes, I wish you decades of happiness with your color choice
Love the color. Also baby them. The paint in my kitchen has taken over a month to cure and get hard and resist scratches and I live in Colorado in a mega dry environment.
I kinda figured that's what you were planning just wanted to make sure. We are not patient or careful people so that would be incredibly difficult for us. Lol.
I can't wait to see your fabulous kitchen table in there, assuming you will keep it!
We are definitely keeping the kitchen table. However, for a little while at least, it will go in our front room as a "dining room table" ... because I miscalculated the size of the blank space in the kitchen, I'm not sure it will fit in there in addition to the chest freezer.

OMG - look at all that soapstone, spankswife ... ::droooool::
The color does remind me of our kitchen, and we are definitely putting glass in some of the top cabinets as soon as we can (it may be a few months before I want to look at the cabinets again for reno. LOL)
