It was just delivered and I'm so excited about it! It looks huge, even though technically it's smaller. We're going from a double bowl to a single and this is much bigger than either side we have now, plus it's deeper, plus the D shape really gives a lot more room.
I'm really confused though about how to install it. There are no instructions in the box. Just the template. It has this metal rim that goes all the way around the rim underneath. I thought the bottom of an overmount sink was just flat.
Anyone know?
I'm sure we'll figure it out. Besides that, it seems like a great sink.
thanks for the clue niknik. I will google, because I'm not familiar with dual mount. I can't wait to get this in and be done fighting with the divider in my double sink!
okay, dual mount is what it sounds like- that it could be either over or undermounted. All the descriptions of this model only specify it as overmount, but that certainly does seem like those extra flanges would be for undermounting it.
Okay, so I guess there just isn't all that much lip for the sink to rest on as an overmount. I'll tell H to be careful with his cutting
Looking at it again the top part has too much of a raised rim for a countertop to sit flat on it, so it can't be a dual mount. I am stumped as to why this extra piece is there. I will give them a call. Not like this is an emergency, the old kitchen isn't even ripped out yet.
