Sorry, I want to paint the risers. Mostly because I think that white risers are impractical (scuffs, etc) I was to do a color that compliments the blues.
If you're drawn to the black, I would do the black. However, I think that you would have to commit to painting the railing and/or the spindles as well.

I think that would be hard to do. Because if you look their floor color is darker than yours and since your stairs turn I'm not sure it would look right. I think you'd end up needing to paint a lot of stuff black and lose your contrast. They have the railings black and in between the steps black
Okay, once again, I disagree with everyone. I think painting the risers and railings is a great idea. Why not paint the risers and spindles a darker shade of blue? If you have the name/paint card for the shade of blue on the first floor, get a darker shade of blue from the same card. The natural treads and natural handrail will stand out against the dark blue and you will have contrast from the light blue wall going up the stairs and the medium blue wall on the first floor.
I like all the colors too, but I wouldn't stray too far or like others have mentioned you will lose impact and contrast. I recently painted my interior doors navy blue (keeping the trim around them white) and really like the look. So I could see doing a similar treatment in navy instead of black to keep it in line with the color you already have up. I don't think you can just do the risers without doing something to the spindles and maybe also the railing though.
