I went to Wal-Mart this morning and got a sled, board games and snow boots. I'm predicting a snow day for Monkey, so I'm hoping I can get to stay home too. If busses aren't getting around out there (his district is one of those that hardly ever closes), then I'm not getting my butt out for work.
Me! Me! Me! Although the snow totals are dropping rapidly, It's still going to be brutal. The windchill is still -20 and the other day we had less than an inch of snow with the wind that created a blizzard all on it's own. Anymore snow added and it'll be twice as bad.
I'm still excited though. I can hang around the barnyard/be home with Rubes. I was supposed to lead/attend part of an all day WS on Friday...so whatever gets me out of that is fine by me..lol.
10+ inches of snow is enough here that if there's also blowing, there's a good chance the county will close the roads. Fingers crossed for your snow day!
I heard them say on the news that this could be our "biggest snowfall of the season!"...then they said 3 inches. Womp-womp-womp. I want a good snowstorm!

Well come on down!
I guess I prefer 8-12 over 17 inches we got 2 years ago. We got no snow last year and have had about 3 inches (maybe) this year so far. Our farm land really needs it, so I won't whine too much. Just a little. (I get more inconvenienced by the frigid weather!)

Dh called if public school close his work is closing so they sent work home with him. Yay I'm excited for an adult snow day just hope we don't lose power
I live in Flagstaff and we got like 5.5 inches- pretty lame. They closed the schools, including NAU though it snowed more 2 weeks ago and only K-12 closed but we got a snow day today. Were supposed to get more snow on Friday though. We were supposed to have gotten near a foot so thats why 5.5 isnt that big of a deal. Especially since I'm originally from WI so this is nothing.
I thought it was new this year, but i guess it started last year (naming the storms)- see below as to "why" they decided to start naming them. --------------------------------------------
The Weather Channel announced Tuesday that they planned to start naming winter storms, similar to how the National Weather Service names tropical systems. Why?
"-Naming a storm raises awareness. -Attaching a name makes it much easier to follow a weather system’s progress. -A storm with a name takes on a personality all its own, which adds to awareness. -In today’s social media world, a name makes it much easier to reference in communication. -A named storm is easier to remember and refer to in the future."

School district I live in closed so I have to let my boss know I'm not coming to work. Nothing has started yet, but my dad drives a nightly route from KC to Salina, Dodge City and then back to KC and he said Dodge City was white out last night, so there's that. I also told H I was glad he works such weird hours (6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) because he would be off the roads by the time everyone else gets on them.
Awe my friend in Tuscon posted snow pictures. I'm assuming they aren't used to it (she grew up in the NE I believe, so NBD for her). 2 inches so far (and big flakes, sticking in her hair!) I'm hoping everyone stays warm and safe, and enjoy the snow days!
My mom called me from Tucson to tell me that it was snowing.
Yeah....they don't get much snow (just in the surrounding mountains). I think at most, once a year, usually in March or April, but there was a white Christmas in the mid 80s. I remember as a kid being so excited when it stuck, but it was usually all melted by noon.lol
We've got about 10 inches on the ground right now in Wichita. They are saying we will probably get 12-15 inches total. I'm so happy for it all, but my DH is driving home right now from Tennesee and well, it's so terrible out. He decided that coming in through OKC rather than KC might be a better choice, but even that route is icy. My only comfort is knowing he's in a big box truck that's heavy.

My H had to go to work today, so he left at his normal time and it was just starting to snow. He left work before 10:30 and got home at 11. Oh, but his car is down the street because it's stuck. People are abandoning vehicles on emergency routes and ambulances can't get around them. I get we haven't had this kind of snowfall in awhile, but c'mon..

Well, I went out to help H get his car in the driveway and I got it in my boots, so I'd say between 8 and 12 inches. Depends on if it's drifted or not.
