I've read the first two, and honestly, not a lot happens. It's pretty fun when things do, and I really like a couple of the characters, but if I finish the series, I'll be shocked if I believe it needed to be four (right?) books instead of one, maaaaybe two.

Would you say they are quick reads, despite not much happening?

I have it on my Kindle to start reading this weekend. We shall see. Maybe this is one of those rare cases where the movie will be better than the book.

I wanted to like it but it was just kind of meh to me. I only read through the first book and felt like it dragged on and on. They whined too much about how they couldn't be together and it got old. But I did like the setting and the whole dark vs light magic thing was a cool concept.

I finished Beautiful Creatures this weekend. The beginning was kind of slow and I felt it was a little choppy throughout. But I'm a sucker and I liked it enough that...
when it ended with the whole new song on the iPOD, I was all, "ok now I have to read the second one." But tomorrow is the BIG DAY - Lover's At Last is released! Duh duh DUH. So I'll be putting this series on hold.

I finished the series last night. I enjoyed the small Southern town setting, Caster mythology and a few characters in particular. But the books were excessively long and wordy, which could've been improved by cutting down on how much the two main characters droned endlessly about their tortured love. Still, 3-3.5 stars.
