We're stockpiling different appliances before beginning our house remodel in May - and we're buying our kitchen sink & cooktop this weekend. A quick question for folks who use a cooktop:
Are your knobs/dials at the bottom of the cooktop or to the right? Do you prefer either? Or are yours buttons (like on a microwave) vs. knobs? - do any of you use a downdraft vent?
We're 99% sure we're going knobs/dials on the right - but aren't opposed to buttons. Thanks for letting me bounce ideas around I'm finding it harder to commit to items than I thought it would be when building my 'dream kitchen' - we have the ovens, dishwasher, & have picked out the sink. Now the cooktop remains!
We just bought a Dacor cooktop and had a choice of buttons on the front and buttons on the side. We chose buttons on the front because that gave us a 5th burner.
We had a Jenn Air downdraft in our old house. It was ok, I don't think ours was installed quite right because it wasn't that effective but I have had friends that loved theirs.
Our knobs are on the front right corner. We have a 5 burner cooktop and the knobs are where a 6th burner would be. My MIL has a touch cooktop and I find it much more tedious to change the burner settings. With my knobs I just grab it and twist my wrist. I dont really even have to look at it. We also have a downdraft vent. Most of the cooking I do I dont use it but when I do need it I am very grateful that I have it.
Thanks for the replies. We need to have our contractor look about codes for drafting - we'd like a downdraft, but need to ensure it is correct with the amount of turns, distance to vent, etc (this would be my H's area of expertise)
I'm leaning towards knobs on the right or buttons on bottom. We definitely want a 5 burner cooktop
