We have a bench in the mud room which the kids to use, but I feel like this is missing in my front entry for guests. Most people will sit on the stairs if they need to, which is just off the front door, or kids will sit on the floor. There is no nice place to put a bench here, other than behind the door, blocking the sidelight.
No. I have a long narrow hallway as a main entry. There's no space for a chair. I only really have a person who needs one a couple times a year. My office is right off the entry so I just grab a chair out of there.
My actual mudroom has one. It's impossible to get coveralls and boots off and mittens on the kid without it.
I think it's a nice touch if you have the space but it's just a trip hazard if you don't.

We do but because we don't have a mud room area (yet) it collects all our hats, purses, etc. so you usually have to move something in order to sit down. I do like having it tho.
we have a hall tree, but the coats we hang on it make the bench part kinda useless. i would go with a different design the next time around. at least we didn't spen 100s of $ on it. so when i do want to do something different in the next house, i won't feel guilty.
We don't. It's hard to find something short enough that it won't block any of the doors. I've tried, but none of the CL benches I've seen have been short enough. Ideally I'd like a bench on the same wall as the exterior front door, with coat hooks above it (I have no great love for that tree, but it's functional). It has to be short enough that the door to the garage doesn't hit it:
It hasn't been a big deal because we aren't a "take your shoes off" house. It would be sort of nice for us to take off snowy boots in the winter, but no biggie the majority of the time. Sometimes we sit on the stairs.

Nope, no seating.
Our foyer isn't that big. We have a table in there (a sideboard type of thing -- two drawers and two cabinets, on tall legs) and a large painting. There's not room for anything else.
I don't know anyone who has seating in their foyer, but I live in Florida, so no snowy boots to take off :-)
If I had room, I think a bench looks nice in an entry, but I'm always desperate for more storage space, so I probably wouldn't choose a bench when I could instead use that space for something with drawers!!
Oh, I completely forgot there are 'shoes in the house' regions. No one ever wears shoes inside (even at parties!)?so it would definitely be more of an issue where I live, than other areas. Here is a view of my entry.
