Hi everyone! I've never posted over here; but assume this is the place to ask this sort of question.
We're finishing our basement and I'm realizing that I've picked several different finishes and am wondering if it will look too hodge-podge. For reference, our house has white trim, all door hardware and most light fixtures are oil-rubbed bronze. The kitchen has ss appliances. In the bathrooms there is a mix of brushed nickel and orb finishes. Here's what I've picked so far:
i'm with tarheels. i have seen 2 pulled off effectively, maybe 3 if there is enough for each to have reasonable repeats in the space for them to make sense. but to just have 1 of any one finish just doesn't seem to work (or i haven't seen it pulled off).
Am I missing something? It didn't seem to me that you had more than two different finishes per room to me.
I actually don't mind mixed finishes within a room, but I know that I am not the norm. I don't necessarily even consider doorknobs as having to relate to the other finishes in a room...to me they are part of the door more than part of the room. That could be because ours are ugly and I've learned to ignore them.lol

I considered the basement as a whole a room. While yes, technically the bathroom has its own door, it's still part of the same space and should be cohesive with the rest of the area IMO.
