any experiential stories, good or bad of ladies that failed their 1 hour gestational diabetes test and had to do the 3 hour.
if you ended up passing the 3 hour, can you share what your 1 hour results were and if you did anything to try to help better ensure 3 hour test success (i.e., avoiding sweets, eating what is otherwise a diabetics diet, etc.)?
my results for the 1 hour was 144 and i was told they wanted it less than 140, so 139 or lower. with my first pregnancy i passed the 1 hour test, but for whatever reason when i was in the hospital on constant monitoring later (30-35 weeks), they redid the test and i failed (had eating a pasta supper with dessert the night before in celebration of valentines day), barely--can't remember the results from then. so they had me eat the restricted diet of a diabetic, but i never had to take anything to manage the sugar levels otherwise. since i was in the hospital for pre-e, i never had to do my own finger prick test daily, they did it. i don't want to have to do this at all this time and am just preemptively afraid.

well....teeecchnically you should let it be natural and get honest results. but I knwo that's not what you asked for
Try eating lower carb the day before (my dr said South beach phase 2/3 was a good plan to follow while pregnant - lean meat, dairy, lots of veggies, and healthy carbs) I walked a lot during my test, to help metabolize the sugar, otherwise if you just sit there, it doesn't burn off Drink some water throughout, if they let you
My 3 hr test results got messed up, and I had to re-take it! Trust me, I had a ot of time to think this through. Plus my dad was diabetic, so I knew a few ways to help control sugar

Every lab will have different cut offs and numbers because a lab has to establish their ranges based on their population so a 144 might not mean the same as another persons 144
I failed the one hour this time with a 179 and passed the three hour with no problem, didn't do anything other than fast as instructed. It's pretty common to fail the one hour and still pass the three. Really, don't feeak out, you're more than likely fine.
I had to have it with DD. I have diabetes on both sides of my family. Turns out it was all the banana splits I was eating. Our darned Dairy Queen kept having them on sale and I love them so I was eating 2-3 a week. I'd go to OB and he's tell me he didn't know what I was doing but to keep doing it 'cause I was doing great. So after my test was successful... I had another banana split.
I failed the one hour with a 175 and passed the 3 hour easily. Every draw my numbers were 20 or so points lower than the cut off. I just did the normal fasting that they asked for before the 3 hour. No idea why my 1 hour was so bad!

I was on a low GI diet throughout my entire pregnancy. I had a high risk of GD. I failed the 1 hour, but I can't remember what my result was. It was really high, but I went on to pass the 3 hour test. I was also taking Metformin due to PCOS with insulin resistance.
