what makes the mattress designed to be on a platform bed? I always thought that mattresses could either go on a boxspring or go onto a platform bed instead. If you already have a nice bed and boxsprings why can't this mattress just go on top?
Our last mattress set had a box, not a box spring, so we used that for our new mattress, since we wanted to keep the height.
You can buy the wood slats that are attached to each other by webbing/tape. When we bought a bed frame for the bed at my mom's house they asked us at the furniture store if we needed them. Ikea has them as a separate sale from the frames as well.
The mattress maker just said that his mattresses aren't supposed to have box springs. I didn't question why. The owners manual says "if possible, place your mattress on a breathable platform like an unfinished slatted wood base. Plywood is also acceptable."
I'll post a pic in a bit. I can't figure out how to do it on my phone. The base will need to be 10-12" high to provide proper height. We currently have a piece of plywood between the mattress and our old box spring but it's way too short because we have a low profile box spring. Our old mattress was much thicker than our new one.
