What do you do? Second grade teacher Do you enjoy it? For the most part yes. What is the best part about your job? Watching my students grow and learn, this is the time of year where I get to see big changes in what they know and can apply. I love it! What is the worst or most stressful part of your job? Parents!!! Hands down!!
Audiologist. Love it. I like working with people, especially the olds. Also I get to make a big difference in their life by helping them hear.
Now that I work in a great environment, there is nothing to not love.
The tons of money ill pay back for the rest of my life from school sucks though. The pay in this field is not equal to the amount of schooling it takes to get the degree.
The work I'm doing is important and very valuable to the company. I'm able to have self-direction/initiative to start and run new projects.
Our team is really understaffed. We're finally adding a couple of people (and replacing someone who left in November), but training falls between me and one other person, so it really adds to the workload.
What do you do? Environmental Specialist Do you enjoy it? I enjoy the research aspect What is the best part about your job? The benefits What is the worst or most stressful part of your job? Dealing with Wyoming.
What do you do? I am an in-house Patent Attorney for a telecom corporation
Do you enjoy it? Sure. I don't love it, but I am learning new technology and it is always changing. I get paid well and the hours are very reasonable and flexible.
Best part of my job? I WFH, which is a nice change after being in a firm/office for the past 10 years. Most of my colleagues are in Finland or Germany, so there is no need to be in our US office every day, unless I need to meet with engineers or my assistant.
Worst part of my job? Because most of my coworkers are in Finland and Germany, I have a lot of early morning calls because of the time difference. Since I'm not a morning person, it's hard.
What do you do? i think everyone knows by now. i'm a lawyer (i litigate and do some corporate/transactional work. it's a weird hybrid and somewhat particular to my practice area.)
Do you enjoy it? yes. like 65% of the time. the other 45% is when i'm either working on a boring matter, or doing all the admin stuff you have to do. i presume neurosurgeons feel the same way about paperwork (not that i'm comparing the complexity of my job to neurosurgery).
What is the best part about your job? no one will believe me because lawyers have a bad rep, but i really do love to help my clients solve their problems. a good result in any arena is a problem solved. i also like that there is some "flexibility" to my schedule. i mean, i work pretty much all of the time, but that means i can leave early on a wednesday or come in late on a friday or whatever. i--literally--do not have a cap on the amount of vacation or sick time i can take (although i do have to make my hours regardless).
What is the worst or most stressful part of your job? i hate billing my time (though it does mean that when i'm on here i'm guilt free because i'm not billing and therefore not "wasting" company time). i hate the pressure to up or out. i hate the pressure to market. i hate that because my job is "flexible," i'm supposed to be all "sure, no prob" about a 9:30 conference call on a thursday night.

I don't like my current job, but I like my chosen career. I work in archives and special collections which I generally love, but right now I'm a part time graduate assistant while I finish up my library degree. I hate being back on the bottom of the totem pole, only working half time, and not having a salary or any benefits to speak of. I only have a few more months of this though and then I will hopefully be working full time again.
The best part about my job is that it is interesting and low stress. Few deadlines, I never have to worry about making money or turning a profit, and I never have to worry about work after hours or on the weekends.
The most stressful part is that it is a niche skill, so it requires kind of a lot of education and positions are not overly abundant.
I'm beginning to wonder if it is unrealistic to think going to work should be fufilling or enjoyable. It is WORK after all.
What do you do? I market and tour our traveling exhibitions to museums and galleries internationally Do you enjoy it? love What is the best part about your job? getting to look a beautiful photographs on a daily basis. working with talented people and a respected brand. What is the worst or most stressful part of your job? time zone sensitivities/deadlines. Making sure clients pay their invoices
What do you do? I am the Education Curator at a small zoo. Do you enjoy it? I absolutely love it. I feel very fortunate that I fell into my dream job straight out of college. I fully expected to work as an Education Specialist or Education Assistant for several years before working my way up, but this incredible opportunity came along. What is the best part about your job? I have three main "areas" of my job, so I'll pick a favorite from each: (1) Teaching education classes and working with our education animals, (2) recognizing our amazing volunteers for their service, and (3) planning our Halloween event What is the worst or most stressful part of your job? The most stressful part is definitely that I am the entire Education Department. Other zoos our size would have at least two full-time staff people and a few part-time staff, but I've just got me.
I have been struggling with this for awhile. I also question if it is possible to have the personal life balance, pay the bills and be fullfilled. Right now I am choosing to pay bills and have the ability to spend more time with my family.
What do you do? Academic Program Coordinator at a state university Do you enjoy it? Yes and no What is the best part about your job? Salary, benefits, worklife balance, not too stressful What is the worst or most stressful part of your job? Having to do the mundane and the more challenging stuff. I don't have support staff and end up spending way to much time stuffing envelopes sort of tasks. My department is sort of fucked up so that is annoying. I am bored with my job in general.
What is the best part about your job? I love that I am in charge of the communication and stewardship aspects of the department, so I can make an impact in the background without having to be a front line fundraiser. Also, the environment is very positive and high-energy, and I get to work with intelligent, passionate people. Finally, the benefits are very good.
What is the worst or most stressful part of your job? Lots of bureaucracy - it takes so long to get anything done. Also, the pay is not great.
The parents are horrible with communication and can be very rude (why I don't like the job). Luckily this job is not permanent or my career. Im also pregnant so I'll be leaving in September.
I'm beginning to wonder if it is unrealistic to think going to work should be fufilling or enjoyable. It is WORK after all.
What do you do? Do you enjoy it? What is the best part about your job? What is the worst or most stressful part of your job?
I'm a manager at a public housing authority. I do enjoy it, yes. It appeals to the skills that I am good at and few that I am not. By doing my job well, I feel like I am making a meaningful contribution in an area I am interested in.
The worst part of my job is probably the commute, but generally there isn't really a "worst part". My last job was the Job From Hell, and my expectations have dramatically changed. If I am well paid, respected, and can maintain a reasonable work-life balance, then I am good to go.
What do you do? Academic administrative assistant Do you enjoy it? Most of the time What is the best part about your job? I work with really interesting people and my boss is flexible so I cna take DS 2 to his appointments w/o too much stress. What is the worst or most stressful part of your job? When people outside our department don't do their jobs and it messes up my job.
Do you enjoy it? Yes, it is pretty mundane and I enjoy the break from the chaos and stress that comes from living in a home with three kids, a husband and a dog.
What is the best part about your job? Fridays off during the summer and they don't mind if we goof around on the internet as long as our work is being done.
What is the worst or most stressful part of your job? Some of the office politics can be annoying. Or when they switch to an entirely new system without getting input from the people who use it the most (like me and some of my other coworkers), so when it rolls out, there are so many issues.
What do you do? I'm an exec assistant at a political non-profit Do you enjoy it? Yes, I'm good at my job, work with good people, and feel like I'm doing what I believe in. What is the best part about your job? Working in something that's important to me What is the worst or most stressful part of your job? Dealing with last minute changes with my bosses travel schedules...or dealing with the finance dept. It's a squirrel farm over there.
What do you do? Body shop production manager Do you enjoy it? Yes, very much What is the best part about your job? A lot of it requires problem solving and analyzing procedures which get my dorky self alllll giddy. What is the worst or most stressful part of your job? Dealing with the general public. The vast majority are great- but then there are some that are unreasonable/ impossible to please and they drive me insane.
I'm beginning to wonder if it is unrealistic to think going to work should be fufilling or enjoyable. It is WORK after all.
What do you do? Do you enjoy it? What is the best part about your job? What is the worst or most stressful part of your job?
What do you do? Military officer/aviator. Do you enjoy it? Yes, absolutely. What is the best part about your job? It's basically my childhood dream turned into reality. It's challenging and rewarding, and every day is different so it never gets boring or monotonous. I am promoted and given opportunities based on my ability and not my race or gender, and I get paid the exact same as the men I work with. The pay and benefits are really good, and I work with a lot of really amazing people. The travel opportunities are good too. What is the worse or most stressful part of your job? It's dangerous. I've lost maybe a dozen friends/coworkers in the last 10 years. I spend a lot of time away from home doing training or deployments, and it can be really hard on my family.
Human Resources Consulting Yes, for the most part Flexible work arragnement and casual office environment This job is practically stress-free compared to my last job, so no complaints
Do you enjoy it? I don't know. I used to love it. I like my cases. Some really shitty stuff- my co-worker stealing my vacation, people refusing to let me work from home when sick, me pulling repetitive 240 hour months - has recently made me hate it. If I could just work my cases with no one senior to me, or just one person senior to me, I would be much happier.
What is the best part about your job? I love the work. I love having the resources and budget to chase down every crazy idea I have.
What is the worst or most stressful part of your job? Office politics. I work for people who don't like each other and I feel like collateral damage in their fight (I.e., partner A will say "Elle is so great, she did X" when really Partner B did X, Partner B can't retaliate against Partner A because Partner A is too senior, so he punishes me even though I had NOTHING to do with any of it).
I'm beginning to wonder if it is unrealistic to think going to work should be fufilling or enjoyable. It is WORK after all.
What do you do? licensed property & casuality agent ( auto and home ins.) Do you enjoy it? it's boring as hell but it pays the bills What is the best part about your job? hours. I get to make my own schedule. What is the worst or most stressful part of your job? Deadlines my boss always has time senstive tasks for me.

What do you do? I am an Administrative Assistant
Do you enjoy it? I enjoy it when I am kept busy, but many times throughout the year I either have to come up with my own projects to work on or clean people's offices to pass the time. I don't do well with boredom AT ALL. When I'm not busy, I put energy into bettering our process and procedures (ex: creating template files for commonly used documents to help staff work smarter, not harder...I also completely updated our filing structure both hard copy and in electronic form and I maintain it). The downfall to all this is that in all the years working here, I've run out of projects to come up with to stay busy.
What is the best part about your job? The best parts about my job aren't things people normally boast about. I'm happy to have great benefits, good pay, and PTO. I'm ready to move on.
What is the worst or most stressful part of your job? Lack of appreciation and growth
I could complain on a regular basis on this board about my job, but I resist the urge to as I fear coming off as a debbie downer who does nothing to try and better her situation. I have job searched and interviewed for the last 2 years, but the pay isn't comparable and I cannot leave this job at this point unless it would be. Hence, grad school and the hopes for a future career in human services.
What do you do? I work in HR. Sr. Hr business partner Do you enjoy it? So far. I've worked at this company for all of 2 days. But I've been doing hr work for over 5 yrs. What is the best part about your job? Helping people. Honestly it's funny the shit people get into. What is the worst or most stressful part of your job? Office politics
What do you do? Attorney - adoption and family law
Do you enjoy it? I love it and can't imagine doing anything else
What is the best part about your job? It's hard to name just one thing. It's extremely rewarding to help people through difficult times, and I love knowing that I'm doing something that matters. It is fast paced and always interesting. I am constantly hearing crazy stories. I like that not every day is the same - some days I'm in court, others mediation, client meetings, depositions, etc. The work is varied and challenging.
What is the worst or most stressful part of your job? Since I'm a solo practitioner, the most stressful part is the variable income. Eventually I'll get to the point where it won't matter that much, as slow months will still provide more than sufficient income, but I'm not there yet. I'll get there. Some parts of the job are boring, like plowing through thousands of pages of financial documents to determine assets. Dealing with unreasonable clients and asshole attorneys can get old, too.
I consider myself very fortunate to have a job that I love, and also don't think I'm the norm. I think for a lot of people, the best they can hope for is a job that they can tolerate and don't dread going to every day.
What do you do? I'm a nanny to a 5 year old with special needs. Do you enjoy it? I'm totally in love with my job. What is the best part about your job? Seeing her understand something or learn a new word. Also the cuddles. What is the worst or most stressful part of your job? Well, she's a 5 year old with special needs. I hate the dirty looks we get in public when she's not perfectly well behaved. And she tends to hit/pinch/slap when she's frustrated or needs attention.
What is the best part about your job? I get great benefits, flexible schedule and I get 5+ weeks of vacation. I also really enjoy the people I work with and my office is less than 10 minutes from my house.
What is the worst or most stressful part of your job? I sometimes have to juggle a lot of projects at once with out much help from my boss. Keeping all of the schedules, timelines, milestones, and putting out fires in the different projects I'm working on can really stress me out sometimes.
I used to work for a Big 4 accounting firm and the hours and stress for that job was unreal. Never again. So even my most stressful days at my current job are no where near even the mediocre days at my old one and for that I am very thankful.
