I had a few places where I wanted to hang mirrors in our new house and somehow I came across some articles on Feng Shui and mirrors. Pretty much all of my ideas were "Feng Shui don'ts", and although part of me doesn't care, the other part of me doesn't want to risk any negative energy/bad vibes. lol
Plus some of the "rules", don't make sense. On one list, it says "Do place a mirror near your entry", but then right below that it says "Do Not hang a mirror so that it reflects you within 5 feet of entering your home". OK? So how do you enter? lol
I don't know any of the rules and I don't care. I position furniture/mirrors/art/etc where ever I want. I am happy with the way my home looks and that is all the "positive vibes" I need.
My old boss had some feng shui lady come into her house and give her some pointers. I don't remember the mirror specifics but it was something about water I think? All I know is then she put like 3 mirrors up in her cube afterward. It was weird.
Is this a bunch of rules like not wearing white after Labor Day? I just can't get on board something that's about following rules to enhance my qi or whatever. Although, now that I'm thinking about it, maybe I could use a little more life energy.
whatever there may be to feng shui I figure it can't be determined by a list of something like a yahoo article of the top 5 feng shui don'ts. I think a lot of it probably depends on an individual space.
Bottom line for me is that I do think there is an energy to spaces but I'm not worrying about feng shui. I figure that a clean, clutter free space is probably the best thing that you can do for your energy and having a room decorated the way you like it is more important than a weird rule.
