Yesterday was my first time back on my road bike since August 2011. I planned to do an easy 25 mile ride to get myself 'back in the saddle' (heehee) before my first tri of the season at the end of the month.
Rather than go with the group, I took the cue sheet and started on my own (I tend to not like the 2-3 30min breaks the group takes). Bad idea. My 25 mile ride turned into a 40 mile ride with some extra massive hills. Apparently my head was up my ass during my ride and I missed turning at major intersections that a normal person wouldnt miss and got myself nice and lost.
I finally get to my car, exhausted, sun burned, and excited to reward myself with a chicken nugget happy meal (seriously) on the way home. And then I realize I lost my car keys somewhere on the ride.
I called DH crying from exhaustion, starvation and frustration. He comes and picks me up, and gets me my happy meal. It was quite a day and I am still not 100% recovered. Oy.
also, i bought a little magnetic case for an extra car key that you stick underneath the car. because if i dont lose my key on my bike, i lose it on the run or i lock it in the car (like i did 2 weeks ago).
i dont mean to LOL, but had to a little because that has been me - more than once.
on the brightside, you know you're in good enough shape to ride 40 miles with hills so you'll kick ass at your race!!
This!! And I would be frustrated with 30 minute breaks too!
there are a couple of groups that i like riding with but i cant because they stop soooo many times! i can totally tell that no one else has a 2yr old at home, lol
That's too funny. Glad your DH came and got you and you were able to get the happy meal. At least you lost your keys during a ride. I managed to lose just my housekey and run into a fence all in one night.
30 minute breaks on a 25 mile ride? Really? That's 1/3 of the ride time! I don't blame you for not wanting to go with them! Sorry to hear about your key troubles!
