We give him Dentastix. One of these days we will attempt to brush them, but he doesn't like touching around his nose and jowls so we haven't gotten around to it yet. He's got those big ol' puppy dog eyes, and the looks he gives us make us feel so guilty for doing anything he doesn't like. He did get his teeth cleaned by the vet over the summer, though.
Not yet. She is so young (1-1.5) that the vet said her teeth look good and to give her dental chews. We give her a Greenie twice a week and she loves them! As she gets older, we will probably have to take her to the vet for a cleaning because there's no way in hell she's letting us brush them.
I do when I remember to (you think it would be easy considering I brush my own teeth); she doesn't seem to mind it. In fact, when I pull out the toothbrush, she walks over to me, so I don't think she finds it traumatic.
I didn't until the time I took him for a cleaning and he had to have 11 teeth pulled... well, apparently the bottom front four just fell right out. I cried like a baby and felt so bad for letting that happen. I brushed at least 4 times a week after that.
I just took my pup to the vet to get put under for her first teeth cleaning on Saturday. We do the Banfield Wellness plan with that included so for a dog her size we pay 30 dollars a month or so and get check ups twice a year including bloodwork, x-rays, and teeth cleaning and no office visit charges if I think something is wrong with her.
She was miserable Saturday night though b/c her throat hurt from being the tube
