Do you have family pictures? Art? Nothing? I've seen some more deliberate (rather than the random style I've done before!) arrangements of family photos that I sorta like.
Examples of a few different ways I've seen it on done (thanks, Pinterest!):

I don't think we're old enough to have a gallery wall, hehe. When we crank out kiddos and get more photos, I'd like to start clustering nice photos like that. My folks have this.
I have family pictures upstairs on my landing. Some date back over 100 years, some are newer. They're in the original frame or folio where I have it- so no matchy-matchy frames.
We have a gallery wall but I like things clean and simple. More like an art gallery so I went with oversized frames and lots of matting. I like to switch the pictures around every once and while to a different set/theme. But my issue with that and all gallery walls you plan to change the pictures in is that you're stuck with the same number of vertical and horizontal because the hole is in a different spot for each.
So I had some frames made to solve that issue. The frame is square but the mat is cut to fit an 8x10. It can be rotated around to be horizontal or vertical without putting new holes in the wall. It really only works because there is a lot matting.
Our hallway is really short. It might be six feet long. In our little slice of wall space I have a framed wedding invitation that was a gift and a needlepoint thing my grandmother made for me when I moved away from home. I would love to have the space for a gallery wall!
Well, we have a very open concept upstairs, so really our only "hallway" that has enough space for pictures is our stairwell. I just hung up a gallery arrangement last week.
