We still battle bedtime every night. He stands up in his crib and screams. We take turns going in every once in a while and patting his butt and back, and then he falls asleep and then as soon as we creep away, he jumps up with a jolt and cries. Just wondering how everyone else was doing with it?
I am wondering if there are people out there who put their babies in their crib and they go right to sleep. If so, did they do it naturally? Or did you sleep train?
Don't get me started on naps. Its worse for naps, then at bedtime.
ETA: We still use the swing for naps, and i know he isn't too far from the weight limit so its time to put it away, and i am dreading this.
William has been a natural and going to bed at night. I pretty much sit him in there and just walk away. Ive pretty much always have done that with him. However, he wakes up more than once per night and doesn't go down that easy for naps always.

DS goes down easily... we did sleep train using Ferber. I watch for his tired signs (rubbing eyes, yawning, cranky) then I bring him upstairs, change him and nurse him in my bed side lying. Then I bring him to his room, put him in his crib with his little bunny (stuffed animal), rub his back and say good night, then I leave and close the door. He will talk to himself for 1-2minutes then he passes out.
It was a lot of work to get this far and it was really hard on me to hear him cry. We did the interval check-ins (3 mintues, 5 minutes, 10 minutes). But now he sleeps so well so I'm happy we did it.

Our routine is dinner, maybe a bath, pjs, bottle. Claire finishes the bottle, turns her head to the side, sighs, and falls asleep. Then we lay her down and she's good til morning. This started at three months, on her own. I take no credit.
Etta usually takes that bottle in her bouncer, falls asleep in her bouncer, then we transfer her. 50% of the time she fights sleep. I am currently working on putting her down drowsy but awake for naps. Nights are harder bc I am alone so often that the bouncer kinda is a necessity.
It depends on the night. Some nights she goes right to sleep. Other nights she cries right when I shut the door. The crying lasts less than 10 minutes though, usually 2-4, and sometimes she will stand up and jump around but then lays down and goes to sleep.
Uh no, never has, well unless we are in the car driving. I still rock her to sleep every night. For naps sometimes I rock her but other times she will fall asleep on her own but that's with me next to her in my bed.
I've always been baffled at the laying the baby down and they just fall asleep. Lillian would do what Lou does. We sometimes do Ferber for naps on the weekends but we are not regular about it.
With Ashlynn, no, she would pretty much CIO at least 5 nights a week. Chloe on the other hand is pretty awesome, she gets her bath every night around 7pm, bottle around 7:30pm and then we go into her room, I rock her for about 5 minutes and put her in her crib. She rolls over and that's pretty much it. Unless she is sick, then we have troubles. But she did this all on her own. I feel pretty lucky!
I don't know what type of sleep training I did, but it seems to have worked. Obviously, some nights aren't as simple but for the last two weeks we have had pretty steady seamless sleep times.
A couple of months ago when he would stand in the crib I would only go in and soothe if it escalated to crying - not whining. I put him back down with his paci, snuggled with his blaniey. White noise on. Some nights it would take a few rounds of this but eventually he wore himself out and is able to put himself to sleep.
Now I put him in the crib and he will stand and look around. Then start rolling around with some whining and go to sleep within 4-5 minutes. Some nights, if he is good and tired ,( no naps past 4) he goes right to sleep with no fussing at all.
We are working on naps. We just transferred to the crib for naps and it's a little touch and go, but today he napped for 2 hours!

Yeah A has never in her life just been put down awake and fallen asleep on her own. That is a completely foreign concept to me, even though I know it occurs for other people. She fights bedtime tooth and nail, no matter what I do. We eat dinner, play for 15-20 minutes, bath, story, nurse, rock, and sometimes she goes down (and wakes up 15 minutes later), other time she stays awake screaming for hours. It takes forever to get her to sleep, and I end up taking her in my bed so we both can pass out. All these sleep threads are killing me, lol.
She goes down easily, but we sleep trained. She's not always the best napper, so by the time bedtime rolls around, she almost throws herself into her crib. She knows she's ready!
We did some training for bedtime; a combo of pick up/put down and sleep shuffle. It took a long time but she goes to bed easily. I bounce her for a minute, put her down awake and leave. Sometimes she cries and needs another pick up.
Also, we have been using the swing for naps. I told H yesterday no more. I have been trying to get him out of the swing for about a month. Then H watches him, puts him in the swing and I'm back to square one. So yesterday, I put the swing in the attic ( so sad).
Very easily. I am lucky and have a great sleeper, I'm sure the next one will be terrible to make up for it though.
She goes down without a peep around 8. Up until about a month or two ago, I would hold her and cuddle her to sleep. She would get real whiney and just be all over the place. So one night, out of frustration, I just put her in her crib and she went straight to sleep. She wanted to be in her crib and not me holding her. So ever since then, I just lay her down after her bottle and she rolls right over and goes to sleep.

I used to nurser her and then rock her to sleep. About 3 months ago she started refusing to let me do that, as in screamed bloody murder if I tried to bounce or rock her to sleep. So now I nurse her and lay her in the crib. The first 2 months were rough because she didn't want to just go to sleep but she didn't want me helping her. Now she is okay about it.

Thank goodness. I felt like a freak. When i tell people i still use the swing, they gasp at me.

eh...it depends on the night. For the first like 8.5 months we would rock him for literally 1 minute and then he was out, it was FREAKING awesome. Now he struggles to get out of our arms and does not want to be rocked (fine, we were trying to break him of it anyways). Now we set him down and try to just rub his back for a moment. It works for the most part, but lately he is kinda "over" his 7:30pm bedtime and sometimes wants to hang out longer. I blame his new party time attitude on teething.

We just read him a story, put him in his crib, turn on the sound machine, and walk out the door. He will usually fall asleep in under ten minutes. He doesn't cry - he just wants to check out his crib. He rolls around, babbles to his lovie, etc. Then he passes out. We did Ferber around five months.
Yes. He goes to bed without fuss. He wakes up every couple hours there after, but he goes down easily. We started establishing a very consistent routine at 9 weeks. The routine starts around 7, but I'll push it up or back 20 minutes depending on how the last nap went. Bath, lotion, jammies. Then he goes in his crib sound machine on, light out, bottle, prayers. When he's done with his bottle I tuck his taggy next to his cheek and walk away. If he's teething he might get his paci.

We were using the swing for some naps until this week. The cover is now in the wash and it's going bye bye today.
Ever since we sleep trained at 6 months, he goes to bed without an issue at night.
Every night I take him in his room, change him into pjs, nurse him and then put him in his crib (asleep or not).
Has Louie just recently figured out how to stand up in his crib? It took Lincoln about 2 weeks to get back to his normal sleeping ways after learning to stand up. So that might be it?
Sometimes. With the training, the fussing has been shorter and shorter. Naps are a different story. However, I am finding if I make nap conditions the same as night (sleep sack, white noise) it is easier to get him asleep in his crib.

It's gotten a lot better. Majority of the time he will pull himself up, sits back down, repeat until he gets tired and lies down... maybe let out a few cries before he settles to sleep. Sometimes if he's a little crankier than usual I will put my hand on his back. I stay until he falls asleep. It can go anywhere from 1 minute to half an hour (or more if he's not tired at all).
We did Pick Up/Put Down method (from Baby Whisperer book) about a month ago. It's worked wonders because he used to scream and cry as soon as I put him in the crib. He hated the crib with a passion. I think this was caused by trying Ferber. The Baby Whisperer book suggested sleeping in the crib with him to re-establish trust. I slept in the crib with him for a few hours one night before we did PUPD. That was one LONG night. He cried, fought, fell asleep, cried, etc. but I was there when he woke up. Once he was ok with being in the crib, we did PUPD. Lately he wakes up and plays in his crib for awhile before he cries for us.
Now only if we could solve the night wakings... that's a whole new beast.

Yeah it is a possibility. We just lowered the crib all the way. He just started doing it a few weeks ago. But now he can get back down, so sometimes he will sit down, roll around, and then get back up again. He was just screaming and standing for a bit because he couldnt figure out how to get back down and he needed our help. lol he was stuck.
I 'kind of' sleep trained. I never rocked (because I didnt want to start that habit) so I put him awake in his crib starting at 3.5 months. So he's used to it now. Once he started crawling and being mobile, he stands up and yells. He sometimes cries, but mostly plays around in there. He still does it every night almost. Its super irritating, especially because I'm used to a baby that didnt move and went right to sleep. Now he throws his blankies and binky out and yells at me to come and retrieve them. Aah!

Evan started trying to throw his lovey out of the crib thing. The other night he worked on it for like 10 minutes. He couldn't pull himself up while holding the lovey. It was hilarious. He figured it out eventually, was satisfied and then went to sleep. Haha.
