In your hypothetical painted cabinet kitchen, what would you pick? Bonus points for a bold risk and a pip. I think I want to do color, but I have zero clue which.
I painted mine BM "West Coast" in high gloss. It just didn't work with our traditional house so I painted them off white a few months later
ETA: I think one of the issues w/my final cabinets was the high gloss finish. I chose it for durability and wipeability. But most of the pics in this threa show cabinets in stain or eggshell finishes (heck, some look matte). Word to the wise, don't go too glossy when it comes to colorful cabinets.

I think the darker ones look cheap, but the lighter, brighter colors look good. No idea why, that is just where by brain goes. I would do a bright, light green, I think.
Hmm. I think my ideal kitchen has unpainted cherry cabinets. But to play along, I think I'd pick cabinets in this range of blues:
Maybe a white subway tile backsplash - since cabinet color is cheaper to change than tile if I decide I'm tired of blue later - and maybe a quartz countertop that picks up the blue, but isn't entirely blue.
I couldn't pick just one. Ahh! I LOVE the look of the dark black or really dark grey cabinets (go with everything!). I have a color-crush on aqua right now, so all the PIPs of blue and aqua kitchens above are beautiful. I don't think my house could pull off a yellow or red color. My fav color ever is grey but I feel like that would be expected (everyone knows I love grey) and if I were doing a color, I'd want it to pop and be unexpected.

I also like turquoise, yellow, or black. Like these:
But if you are looking for more color, I think this looks cool, but I would probably never be bold enough to do it myself:
Or you could use contact paper (if your cabinets are flat) to make a fun design in wood grain and it's not permanent - we did something similar at a rental while waiting to buy our last year.

I love the red cabinets!
I have too much red in my kitchen stuff to have red cabinets too. I might go with a cobalt or even an aqua, although the idea of something in a glossy neutral gray or something, with color on the walls has its appeal. If we had different dishes, I think I would paint my cabinets eggplant.
I always love to look at photos with cabinets that are teal, aqua, or other beachy blues. I love black, but after having black in our kitchen, I am not interested in anything that dark. They show dust, water spots, etc, far worse than light cabinets...even worse than white cabinets.
