Who's in?
Southwick Zoo is in Mendon, MA. It's about an 1 1/2 hr ride for me. Very doable. They don't open until April 13 for the season. They do have really cool exhibits though! I don't know why we've never gone before. I love zoos.
I'm up for a GTG! Weekends work for me (but I do have the last week in April off for break). Southwick zoo looks to be about an hour and fifteen for me which is fine. Where are you coming from?

I've been there, twice I believe. Once was for Mother's day like 2-3 years ago, it was freaking COLD!! The second time was last year for a birthday party that I took Adam too, it rained. haha, perhaps someday it will be a nice day out when I go. I think this zoo is like 40 minutes from me, a lot of back roads.
I'd love to join in, but the crappy thing for me is my work schedule/social events calendar. I don't get full weekends off so it can be tricky for me to commit to things that are too far out sometimes. I'd definitely be open to trying to join in and hope that the day everyone agrees on could work for me. Are we thinking May, so it will be a little warmer? Maybe if/when we get down to discussing a possible date, we should switch to PMs? A Small part of me always feels like there could be some creepy ass person who is watching this thread and might just show up at the zoo to stalk us.

No worries. I'll protect you! I know karate (no, I don't but I look like I could?).

HAHA thanks. I don't why I think of these things, I guess I'm just overly cautious?
So I was thinking no husbands, I can't imagine DH being comfortable with this ( as far as not knowing anyone)...I was going to leave him home with Adam. I was picturing a ladies/babies day? If everyone wants to bring a DH then I totally understand, but I think it would affect the conversational flow of the outing, IMO. Plus it will be tough enough trying to keep all of your real names straight, forget about your DHs too, lol.
If there are no DH coming, it would have to be accessible via public transit for me. I mean, I have a car but I hate driving and there is no way I am attempting to drive to a zoo alone, on highways, through the city.. no way no way!!
But I'm happy to take trains and buses if that is possible.

Is Stone Zoo or Franklin Park accessible via public transit? There's also the aquarium....

Franklin park is for sure I'd say, because it's pretty close to the city.

Where is the Franklin park zoo? I have the opposite problem of Laurack, I won't drive into the city alone, and she won't drive out of it. Lol, we shall never meet.....
I've heard the Franklin zoo is the best too but I'll go wherever. Their website says it is accessible by MTBA. It's in Dorchester and looks like it is pretty much right off 93.
I went to the chocolate buffet once maybe 8ish years ago and it's AH-MAZING (http://boston.langhamhotels.com/restaurants/chocolate_bar.htm). It's downtown so easily T-able but a driving/parking nightmare. It's not open in the summer, though, just FYI. Now I live far from Boston (Seattle) and wouldn't be able to make a New England GTG, but was curious what you ladies were discussing .

I can 'do' right off the highway totally fine, it's when I get all tangled up in the hell that is boston one way streets that I could easily lose my shit.
I grew up in the burbs of NY, so city driving makes me anxious.

This just makes me want to go even more! I just can't find anyone that love chocolates enough to go (strange people, I know).
So if there are no objections, Franklin Park then?
I refuse to drive INto OR out of the city. I just don't like driving places that scare me which is everwhere except a couple mile radius of my house, lol
Franklin park zoo is in Dorchester.
According to google it would take me about an hour and a half on public transit to get there from beverly. Therefore I am down with it!
I would love to go, but I'm with musiclover I really can't drive in the city. I'm sad I may never meet my fellow New England probies Maybe one day we'll organize a Central MA one.
Can you do Franklin Park Zoo? Sounds like you don't have to drive in/out downtown Boston.
