When I dropped C off at pre-school. There was a guy sitting in his car across from me that I didn't recognize, by himself. I took her in, came out, he was still there. So I sat there for a few minutes and he left. I left after him and saw him pull into another parking lot several blocks away. I proceeded on to work, and got a really weird feeling, that literally made me turn my car around and drive back. He was sitting there again. I got out, told the staff, wrote down his license number and sat there giving him the stink eye. He finally left again and I waited a few minutes longer. I am also somewhat surprised by the amount of parents that parked by him, and then left and seemingly didn't take any notice.
My sister lives down the street so she took a walk by a few minutes ago and no more car.
You did the right thing. Is there anyway you can search his license plate number and crosscheck it to an offender database?
Hmmm...not sure how I'd go about doing this? I do have his license number.
I don't know how to do it either. I know that offenders have to register with the city they live in, so if you could somehow get his name from the license plate information, you might be able to find him. I'm not sure if name/license info is publicly available, though.

I just scanned the offenders list for my town and didn't see anyone that looked like him.

I don't think vehicle information is public record, unfortunately. You absolutely did the right thing, I would have done the same. That is very suspicious and troubling, charlie!
Good for you! If you see him there again, I might approach the car and ask him if he needs help or directions. That is totally creepy and he needs to know people are watching him.

I would definitely do this. I made it pretty damn obvious I was watching him too. I have his license number saved in my phone as well.
Last year when I was at work (daycare), we had some guys break into peoples cars... DURING pick up!! A mom of a girl in my class was actually in the parking lot, but she was talking to her mom on the phone before she went in to pick up her daughter. She mentioned to her mom that she noticed some guys in an unfamiliar car sitting in the parking lot. But she was on the phone, and didn't REALLY think much of it. Then she saw it - they got out, smashed the windows of two cars, and stole purses and whatever else. Then they quickly sped off. She was screaming to her mom the license plate number as they drove off. If it wasn't for her, I dont think they would have been caught! She of course felt guilty that she didn't do more or somehow stop them, but just getting the license number was enough! You should always take note of strange or unfamiliar people or cars near and at the daycare. Too many criminals and sicko's out there...
I damn near tackled a man while I was pregnant with R when he was acting high and tried to push his way past me into the daycare. He had kids there but (A) I had never seen him before (B) he couldn't remember his access code (C) He was behaving and pacing like a caged animal. I blocked his access and screamed that I would not allow him to enter and he needed to go into the office. The owner heard me raise my voice and saw me on camera and came out. That guy hates my guts to this day, but he wasn't getting past me.
I would call the police and give them the info just as a heads up.

Oh wow. I'm glad you went with your gut and made it known to the staff. This is a little off topic but we once had a man come into the center to pick up a little girl. I went to pull the little girls chart to see if his name was on the authorized list of people to pick her up and I went back and he had left. I ended up having to file a police report and do a stetch (same person that did the sketch for the atlanta olympic bombing). It was all over the news. It was insane!

I also want to add that a coworker of mine had her purse stolen while picking her little girl up from daycare. They took a lot of money from her within minutes. A lot of times parents are in a rush to get their kids and they leave purses and such in unlocked cars. He was probably up to no good.
Don't feel like a psycho. I was with J at the park yesterday, and two interesting older males were hanging around just watching the kids. They weren't with any kids (I saw them arrive), and they gave me the willies. I packed up the babe and left. If something feels off, it's always better to listen to you instinct!
