Hee! Urgh!
Hubby and I live in a super tiny condo that we bought before the housing market went to shit. We're very much underwater on it and it blows!
We've been saving up money for a new house, but it's at least a year away.
Meanwhile, in the next year we are fixing up our condo to rent out, saving up money to buy a new house, and cleaning up miscellaneous debts that might make it difficult to get a second mortgage (the last student loan, etc).
BUT I WANT A NEW HOUSE NOW!
I have turned into a real estate stalker! It's not healthy.
Anyway... just needed to vent. I'll live. But you ladies will tell me to calm the fuck down.

Meh, then you will have a big lawn to mow and keep up, higher electric & gas bills, and you will have to pay all the installation fees for sweet stuff like cable/satellite and such. As much as I love my house, it was a big adjustment from renting and I am already sick of the increased bills that came with it!
(not trying to say it's not worth it, just that there are downsides to house-owning, but I hope you get what you want soon! I know it sucks to wait for something you really want. )

Thanks ladies! I think it's because now we have a "PLAN" and so I'm waiting for all those parts of the plan to come into place.
Apparently, I am not a patient person. It's a wonder my husband puts up with me as he's the most laid-back go with the flow person ever. I guess we balance each other out.
We live in a kind of run down area, and obviously since this is our first house it isn't my dream house. I am always looking up houses in places I would rather be living that are larger and nicer. We're stuck here for at least another year, but in reality we will be here longer. I have just been focusing on fixing everything up and making the best of it, and hopefully that will also make it easier to sell when the time comes.

Aww, panda, I feel ya.
I also think that it's because I'm "done" decorating our condo that gets me the itch. You know? We're pretty minimalist people so I don't like to have a done of stuff, but I'm happy with the furniture and art I've hung and stuff like that... there's not much more to DO so it's just... waiting. And save money.
I should turn off my redfin alerts. That would probably help.

I feel you. I'm nowhere near ready to buy a home, but I see the prices that homes are selling for lately and I wish I had money to scoop up a foreclosure.

This!
I'm probably in the minority, but I'm really happy living in an apartment for now. I love being able to call maintenance to fix things if something goes wrong and not dealing with it myself. I like having fewer bills and responsibilities like mowing the lawn. I also feel less tied down in case we ever want to move because it will be less of a hassle.
There are times that I get house fever, haha. But then I remind myself of everything OPS listed above and realize I'm ok with postponing buying a house for a while.
Even if you're not ready though, I still think it's ok to browse and get an idea of what you'd like. We're very far off from buying, but I've been keeping a list.
