Wondering if anyone here has this for birth control and what your experience is with it? Specifically weight gain but all the pros & cons.
I'm thinking about changing my b.c & am on a pill. I've used a handful of pills, nuva ring (too expensive) & am not interested in NFP, any IUD, condoms only or depo. That doesn't leave me with a lot of options!

My sister was considering it, so I asked a friend who is a midwife.
She said the huge concern is totally random breakthrough bleeding. Like, all the sudden BOOM period, no warning. Some people have it, some don't, but you won't know until you pay the money and get it put in. If that does happen and you can't handle it, you can always get it removed, but you will be out the money.
I have the implanon, no weight gain or anything, but I have random periods, lately it is every other week for a full week. When I first had it put in I spotted for about 5 months. I am getting ready to have it removed and I am going to look into something else. It may not happen to you, but I have not had a normal period or cycle since having it put in.

I am on my 2nd implanon and have not had any weight gain or bleeding. I have heard that it is about 50/50 on people with enough problems that get it taken out early.
I kept forgetting to take the pill and depo gave me a 2 month long migraine so this was a great option for me. You cannot see the insertion spot and only have a tiny mark from where my first one was taken out.
I usually lurk, but I had implanon for 3 years and I'm back on the pill now. I never had any weight gain (well that couldn't directly be contributed to the amount of food I was putting in my mouth) or bleeding at all on implanon. I miss the implanon and I'm thinking about going back on it when I have my annual appointment in Oct!
